Belgian beer is also filth, but incredibly high in alcohol content to make up for the poor taste.I should put you on ignore for that kind of bullshit. Did some Belgian dry bum your German ass?

It's complicated... the family has moved back to England but I still work over here, and we still own a house here, so I spend my weeks in Belgium and weekends in the UK.

Registered 5 years agoI'm not in Brussels but I can be there in an hour or so.gif)
edit: I don't know what kind of music you like but you might want to check out the Recyclart, there's usually something to do there ranging from small exhibitions to all sorts of 'underground' gigs and parties. -

You should, Leuven is great, I prefer it to Brussels tbh and I think it's a much nicer town than Ghent (and more 'authentic' than Disneyland, I mean Brugge). Top place to wander for a day - but try to get a local guide to find all the nice secret little corners. (And it's only fifteen minutes from Brussels by train.)

Registered 10 years agoI once spent an excellently beer-powered night in the bar diagonally opposite the Pissing Baby statue. It was about, oh God, 14 or 15 years ago, and it was being run by a charming South Korean gentleman who was married to a charming American lady.
Between them they spoke 6 or 7 languages, and I was with a gang that consisted of girls and boys from France, the Netherlands and Sweden and Wales, so we played fantastic language games, and didn't make it back to the Youth Hostel in time for the 11pm closedown, so ended up drinking Belgian Beer and trying to remember the name for peanuts in many languages.
I *think*... it is all rather vague, now. -

I wasn't in any bars when I was there, but I just remember it cos I'd just seen 300. -
Argh, it's a pain in the arse finding cheap hotels
That Royal Windsor is a five star! Any other recommendations? -
Question - how important is being central? Not sure what transport or taxi's are like, should I aim to be near the city centre or does it really matter?
-
Depends what you mean by 'centre' - no you don't have to be right in the middle of town (in fact better not to be) but it's nice to be somewhere a bit lively. There are some good boutiquey hotels, not too pricey, in Ixelles, try around Avenue Brugmann and Place Stephanie, and up Avenue Louise.

Registered 9 years agoWe dumped the lone pansy in our group who couldn't stay up all night, in a hotel called The Mozart Hotel, I think. From what I remember it wasn't too expensive and was fairly central in location. -

I want to do Nemo 33 at some point next year along with chocolate and beer of course!
It was pretty good fun, but the girl from work I went with ran out of air rather quickly. She only had about 120 bar when we started, so we didn't really spend too long underwater.
The Thai restaurant that is also there has some pretty tasty food.
Think you have to turn up with your own buddy. Not as nice as I used to be
