I've been here in the US for nearly two months now, and I've pretty much adjusted to the heat. When I first got here, I could barely do anything, it was terrible.

It's been a lovely day. If I was at work however I can totally see how horrendous it would be.

Yeah, last summer I was sat out back of what is now my local at 2 in the morning with sweat pissing down my face. That was the first time I wanted to go back home :(

@DD - the heat index is when they add in factors such as humidity to come up with the subjective heat a person feels, not just what the mercury measures. Basically it's an e-penis equivalent for 'my city is hotter than yours' competitions ;)

    Hot weather is arse.
Bring on the rain and storms, I say.

Not only is the latter more pleasant, but it makes going about naval matters more entertaining.

my arse is sticking to my chair now. The inside of my pants would not be a pleasant place to be at present.

Yeah, well, we had two inches of rain here on Tuesday in one hour. So ner!

Massive thunder and lightening storms, rain so hard you can't see more than 20 or 30 feet. Not fun driving on the highways in those conditions :S Still, loads of opportunity for being late to work in the morn with all the power cuts :p

Awesome. I love thunderstorms in the US. Cause the country is so flat, you can see them miles away. Sometimes I can even see a thunderstorm in the distance, when it's perfectly dry where I am.

No such luck in this part of the country as it's all mountain ridges and valleys. Can't see anything coming from very far away at all. Makes for some mental loud thunder if the storm's in the right place though :)

    Typical behaviour really.

I'm loving the weather but I actually wish it was hotter.

Arrrgggghhhh.... I don't know how hot it is, but it's too damn hot to be working. I want to be out in my garden with a couple of cold beers but nooooo... instead of that I had to go and grab my aircon just so I could survive through the phone meeting I have to do before double checking some quotes.

    Fuck you world!

You know what expected high here in Texas today is? 38.8 degrees celsius. You would perish in a second

Bill you pussy. I once survived 10 days of 45 degree nightmarish heat and humidity on safari in Madrid once. I actually collapsed on day 9 though, I have to admit. :(

I used to love that back when I was an admin geek.

"Going to work in the server room on some stuff"

Of course... then there was that time in mid summer that all the aircon packed in. :o

Nothing beats working in the long storage freezers in an Asda warehouse though. :D

It's not even my department and I never have a reason to be there but you will often find me just standing in the huge fridges for like 20 minutes at a time. Bliss.

I like the sun, providing there is a breeze to cool it down a bit, pure heat is a bitch, especially when you are at work, and you really want to be in a pub, with a nice cold beer.

I can't imagine ever complaining that it's too hot.

Although yesterday I had to get the Central line in rush hour and it was bloody horrible, really sticky and smelly and just unpleasant.

Plus my friend who's just moved over from Ireland came out shopping with me in a wool dress and a pair of tights - obviously hasn't got used to the weirdo London weather yet. She was very uncomfortable...
