Registered 5 years agoI paid a tenner on ebay and we raced through it in a week. I know BBC4 have it lined up but don't know when, so I'm grabbing the shows online which I don't normally do but this is top quality TV. -

Registered 10 years agoI picked up the first season on DVD this weekend and have gone through the first three episodes so far.
It really is enjoyable. well acted, tons of style, great dialouge and compelling characters. It hasn't grabbed me like Sopranos or The Wire did, but it is still very good so far. The opening credits are pretty gorgeous as well. -

Registered 10 years agoWatched eight episodes now. It is a quite brilliant show. The Wire is the only thing that I've seen lately that beats it as far as multiseason shows go. The episode 5G is when it really starts to deliver, after four episodes of great buildup.
More people should watch this. -

Registered 10 years agoSo. I finished season one yesterday. The sshow just kept getting better and better as the season went along. As fot now I put it in shared second place of TV shows that I've seen. After The Wire and equal with The Sopranos. It really is amazingly well written and acted. There were several instances where I felt I knew where the story was going and then the show veered in a totally different direction and it always felt completely logical and not at all like a forced attempt to surprise the audience.
All major characters are complex and layered. The good ones do questionable things and thee bad ones are layered and three dimensional. It's a damned shame not more of you are watching this. -

Registered 10 years agoAye, loved it. The character development is awesome. I love the era too, and the attention to detail is stunning. -

Registered 5 years agoIt will happen, but perhaps not with the creator. Must admit I thought season two wasn't as good as one, but still ace. -

This would be amazing. -

Registered 7 years agoI'm currently on about Ep 10 of the first season. While i find it easy on the eye and charming it does lack content. A whole episode can go by and we learn blokey's wife is slightly unhappier than she was at the beginning.
The men are not really all that mad. They just sit, drink, smoke, smack secretary's ass, sit, drink, pitch idea, smoke, sit, drink, ...bf3: sergeant_shaftoe

Registered 10 years agoOnly found it by accident tbh. They really don't advertise it very well. For such a quality programme, it's a shame -

Registered 8 years agoI bet they don't really care how many people watch it. It's probably something most people will watch on DVD anyway (I know I will), but having it on the channel is good for their image, so it only really matters if it's mentioned in lifestyle magazines etc. as a BBC4 show, not what the viewing figures are. -

Registered 10 years agoYeah I know, but some advertising for the few that do watch it would be good - as I say, it was just by chance that I caught it. -

Glad it's back! Always enjoy seeing the adverts form, the thinking behind it etc. Nothing much happened, but that's ok because it's a slow burning of a show. I wonder who he was mailing the book to at the end? -
MsED209 has been getting well into this. I kind of keep track from my perch in front of the computer but it doesn't really hold my attention. I can tell it got much deeper and very engaging though, and I started paying more attention when the girl's character started getting promoted and she got preggers etc. Seemed pretty bloody good. So it's back, eh? I shall add it to the weekly list!

Registered 6 years agoFirst episode of series 2 on BBC2 tonight (23:25) for those who've missed it elsewhere. -
That was fucking sweet. The show is so rich, and well developed. Not much happened, but I was desperate to see how they tied up the loose ends from Season 1. Was convinced Don and his fit missus had split up, and that's what they led you to believe. Still no sign of what happened with Peggy either. Single Mum I reckon, one of the first.
