Wii sales hit 10 million in Japan
It's taken longer to get there than the PS2.
Nintendo has now sold 10 million Wii units in Japan, according to data trackers Enterbrain.
PS3 is in second place with just over 4.75 million, while Xbox 360 is trailing on under 1.3 million.
As Kotaku points out, it's taken 170 weeks for Wii to reach the 10 million mark. PS2 was a bit quicker with 131 weeks.
Here are those figures in full:
- Nintendo Wii - 10,009,736
- PlayStation 3 - 4,766,408
- Xbox 360 - 1,235,049

Or is it on a world scale that Wii sells faster than the PS2?

I meant the PS2 sold really well and fast, in part due to the DVD player, so it apealed to everyone, not just gamers.
I didn't mean the Wii needs a DVD player (that would be silly), but rather it had a tough job on its hands beating the PS2.
