Wii Fit Plus storms Japanese chart

Gran Turismo PSP off the pace.

Wii Fit Plus springs to the top of the Japanese software chart this week by shifting a considerable 340,000 copies, according to Media Create data.

DS newcomer Inazuma Eleven 2: Kyoui no Shinryakusha - Fire/Blizzard - the football RPG - follows at two with 281,000 sales, ahead of Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver with a combined 267,000 sales at three.

Gran Turismo PSP manages only fourth with 134,000 sales, and fellow debutant Macross Ultimate Frontier (PSP) makes fifth with 81,000 sales.

Other new entries include Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 at seven with 42,000 sales and Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce at nine with 27,000 sales. All are a long, long way behind the frontronners.

The DS still leads the region with 63,954 units sold, although this week the PSP is hot in pursuit with 51,215 units sold.

PS3 and Wii are almost neck-and-neck with 37,538 and 35,392 sales respectively, while Xbox 360 and PS2 linger leagues below with 4244 and 2179 sales.

    Not really great for a Gran Turismo title. I am pretty sure they expected better.

    Yet giveb the reviews and lack of carrer mode its bloody good nimbers. Plus does not include download numbers either

    I agree with evilfoxhound: without downloads takn into account, this chart is worthless.

    The original Wii Fit did 252k at its first week.

    What a surprise. Wii fit tops, Sony selling great with PS3 etc and the 360 failing a lot there.

    Wake me up when they start buying 360s there. Then it will be weird indeed. Im just glad I have nothing to do with their market. They are just weird. They bought 360 only when the dating game came out for last time which is just plain proof of what retards they are. Im sorry but i cant pretend it didnt happen. Bitch all you want about it. Glad for Nintendo but not for WiiFit. And whats even more amusing is that those people are SO DAMN SKINY! wtf do they need so many WiiFits there? lol And till the women get more than half lemoned sized boobs I will never be interested either so nothing at all from that side for me :)

    To be honest I do miss Marios but Im afraid that if I get a Wii for the new ones ill be too dissapointed and i dont wanna risk hating nintendo.

    @Donnie, funny how you fail to mention the PS3 beat the Wii price decrease (apparently it was only 4 days but still) and that the Xbox sales were abysmal. But how I am not surprised you fail to mention anything except PS3 Hate... you are an epic fail!

    davisorle: I am glad you have nothing to do with the market as a whole. I am glad you live abroad, that you are racist and that you probably will be nowhere by the time you grow up.     haha. yeah. my comment must have been sharp to you to deserve the reaction it did. very fine to hear that you are with an asian woman, are able to diss the asian culture like you do which to me proves the point I made about trust, but have vagina's in common. I'll return the favor by saying that you should not have kids: there are enough testosterone-fed brains already. I still like to think we are more intelligent than our distant cousins, but when reading comments like yours, I feel unsure if my thoughts reflect reality, hence I get pissed.

    @uglygamer Maybe piracy had a hand in it's slightly less impressive debut? If look on youtube there's probably more people running it on emulators on PC and hacked PSPs than actual legitimate copies.

    Re comments of chart being worthless without digital downloads.... Well from here on to the end of time, all charts will be worthless OR....

    We accepts the chart from optical retails as a pretty good guide of the buying intentions of the consumers and therefore this title is doing well, as let be adults that Sony/ms/ Ninty won't be in hurry to release DD figures unless really suited them and their DD Market to do so.

    Competitive advantages and so on, we won't get any instant figures release ever, cos truth could hurt!

    Gran Turismo doesn't run on hacked PSPs.
    Custom Firmware M33 is stuck on 5.0 (where are you Dark Alex??) and Gen is stuck I think on 5.50. Gran Turismo needs firmware 6.0. So maybe you can download the ISO, but you won't be able to play it on custom firmware.

    @davisorle : Yes.. you're right.. The japense have it wrong in that they like good innovative fun games... They should all buy a 360 and start playing boring carbon copy fps games like western culture (who obviously have it right)
