Trials HD voted best XBLA game

Community chooses champ in new poll.

The Xbox 360 community has voted Trials HD as Best Overall Arcade Game released in 2009 on XBLA.

Last month we heard that RedLynx's superb motorbike game had surpassed 800,000 sales on the service, and that the BIG Pack DLC had racked-up nearly 200,000 sales alone. Trials HD also scooped Best Innovation.

Epic's and Chair's acclaimed creation Shadow Complex was deemed to be Best Solo Game and to have the Best Graphics, while Battlefield 1943 received Best Competitive Multiplayer and Best Co-operative Multiplayer.

Best Original Game went to 'Splosion Man, Best Family Game to Hasbro Family Night and Best Classic/Remake to Banjo-Tooie.

Been a good year for XBLA. A well deserved winner, also props to BF 1943 and Shadow Complex

"The Xbox 360 community" isn't very specific. Does this refer to the Xbox 360 community on this website? Or was there a survey on Xbox.com? A little more information is needed. Trials is wonderful though, an example of DLC at its best.

Shadow Complex is the best one for me. Although brilliant, Trials HD got too hard too soon and put me off.

Well I didn't vote so it doesn't count.... I agree though, Trails was ACE!

In my head I think i've hardly brought any XBLA games since I got my 360 three years ago other than the freebies (Undertow, Hexic, Carcasonne).

Then I checked at the weekend and saw I had actually brought Marble Madness, Rez, Chime, Monkey Island, Trials HD, BF 1943, Lucidity and Shadow Complex. I have to agree with the voting though, Trials and Shadow Complex are probably the best two XBLA games to date - hopefully this years "summer of arcade" will be able to match those 2009 highs

Strangely, i fired the game up this morning and it applied an update. It's only two weeks since i last played. Any idea what it was?

Oh okay, thanks reelbigkris and Beemoh. I genuinely had no idea :D

Where did you bring them too exactly? You brought them into your head? Is this the future of gaming?

Well deserved. Its the one I voted for.

Theres only 1 way it culd be better - if created levels were available to everyone! Friends only is just incrediby stupid. Bring out another level pack as well chaps, the Big Pack was brilliant. One of the best (& cheapest) pieces of DLC I have bought.

Why do people feel the need to correct/mock others when it's clearly not important?
  • mcmonkeyplc #12 2 years ago

@reelbigkris: To make themselves feel better about being worthless twats or put more correctly to cover up their own issues.

Good that Trials is getting this kind of recognition - I've put more hours into this on my 360 than any other game, XBLA or otherwise.

Surprised Defense Grid didnt make a mark on the poll

    Good spot. Damn it :(

I'm going to blame the typo on how annoying it is when people swap bring/brought and buy/bought...

@reelbigkris It's one of my major bugbears... I genuinely don't understand how people can happily just interchange those two verbs - they're completely different!

Shadow Complex should have won in my opinion, but Trials is brilliant too.
  • MiY4MOTO #19 2 years ago

Would have to be Shadow Complex all the way for me, then BF1943.

I never bought Trials HD, I got all the fun I was going to get out of it from the demo. Fun for a few mins but by the time I'd completed the demo I had no urge to see more. Beautiful looking game tho, worthy of the recognition, just not my bag.

If only it had the comedy sound effects of the C64 version of Kickstart 2. Now there was a game I sunk hours into!

Trials is a fantastic game, I would'a bought this as a full release tbh. The only issue I have with T HD is that the last few tracks are overly hard and put a lot of people I know off of the game. I can see the point of them, as they still give me a reason to play it sometimes, but god, there must be a very low % of players that managed to get golds on all the extreme tracks.

The poll was rigged and extremely limited to two choices in each category, most of which were the same games.

Most people voted for Hasbro's extremely crappy 'family night' game in the family category based on the name alone.
