Tabula Rasa gets delayed

But only a little bit.

Producer Starr Long has revealed that Tabula Rasa has been delayed and will now launch across Europe and North America on 2nd November.

Pre-order early access has also been pushed back to 30th October - the same month we had originally expected the massively-multiplayer online action role-playing game.

The extra time will apparently be used to fiddle around with stability and balance issues, as well as put high-level area Ligo through its paces and iron out some crafting niggles.

This is very important to Starr, who was adamant to share the development mantra of, "Stable, fast, fun. In that order."

In the coming weeks, creator Richard Garriott will be writing features detailing what endgame content we can expect in Tabula Rasa, and how Destination Games will go about adding updates over time.

Presumably he will do this when he returns from his voyage to Space, then. Keep an eye on the official website for the updates.

Launch into our Tabula Rasa gamepage for all of our coverage to date.

well, the idea was they would re-design the mmo from scratch, I think it's latin for clean slate.

I think they should have made it for the 360/PS3, the controls fit onto a pad and the interface is pad friendly, yet the pc version had so support.

For a PC mmo, its lacking, for a console MMO, it could be the right thing.

Completely agree. For me it has something missing. Its a good game but it just hasnt managed to grab me and make me want to play, which is a bit of a problem with an MMO.

I hoped TR would be my sci-fi alternative to LOTRO and give me thance to log in and shoot some aliens when wargs arent doing it for me... but, after playing the early access pack it just hasn't captured my imagination at all.

It all seems very generic- the world, the character creation, the ui just dont have any personality and the controls dont seem quite right.

I do love the little innovative ways u can access your various menu's though.

I also agree with the above posters in how this would work well on a '360 or PS3. I think i'll still give it a month or 2 after full launch hoping that my initial feelings are wrong.

Tabula Rasa remains a bit of an enigma for me. I think it looks rubbish, but not only am I consistently wrong about most things, I also reckon there is a bit more to this than meets the eye.

Still, I passed-up on joining the beta because I am scared of another MMO, and the impressions I have read seem to offer no opinion either way.

I completely agree about it being perfect for a console, too. Maybe if it had just been announced it might have appeared on one of the platforms. But it seems like publishers and developers are still waiting for something to prove that the added hassle of creating an MMO for them is worth while.

I like Richard Garriott and his ideas but I wonder if he's fallen into the same trap as everyone else who thinks they've moved MMOs onwards when they haven't really.
