Super Rub A Dub on PS3 Store

Cheap (cheep?) for a month.

Sony's ambitious downloadable duck-'em-up Super Rub A Dub is available now on the PS3 Store for an introductory price of GBP 3.49 / EUR 4.99 until 23rd May.

Rub A Dub is about using the Sixaxis tilt function to get rid of pesky sharks and guide noble yellow ducks to the plughole. The full version features some 60 levels.

If you feel the need to check it out before you, er, "take the plunge", then there's a five-level demo to whet your appetite.

Sounds like a plan to us. Find out whether it's good, solid bath-time fun or a bit of an ugly duckling when our full review of Super Rub A Dub bubbles to the surface later this week. Along, judging by today's puns, with our P45. Sniff.

    first!

Brilliant little game, love the ability to watch other players achievements from the high score table.

Not keen on this, the physics feel all wrong, not weighty enough.

The demo or sorry "Starter Pack" is definitely worth a download.

A simple and rather amusing little game. One best suited to play together with your kids, I reckon. I didn't even expect EG to bother reviewing it though.

Awesome, just awesome - this game is amazing! At first I thought it wasn’t all that after seeing how it transitioned from the E3′05 demo but now that I’ve actually played it and not based my opinion on a negative review (insert well known games review site), this game is a real lil gem! WOW! This game is so addictive it’s scary! Think Marble madness crazyness combined with Super Monkeyball tilting shenanigans in water with gators, this is what this game’s all about> FUN!

The controls are spot on, your in total control and whenever you mess up it is YOUR fault and nobody elses, you’d just brush it off and have another go, and another and another, it’s that addictive! hehe. When you come in the top 5 online scores, your replay is automatically uploaded for all the world to see! :)

This is a bargain game, costing just under 4 squids/$8, you get loads of levels, it’s definitely a more justifiable/interactive purchase than flOw that’s for sure!

Go download the demo, try it, enjoy it, get the full monty and see for yourself how FUN it really is!

    8/10

    RUBBER DUCKIES FTW!!!! ^_~

The game does feel too light, the slighest move rocketing the duck across the screen. Still good though and worth it for the price (well, while it's cheap).

-edit- looks like the comment above is from a paid forum poster. Do you run a PSP site by any chance?

Hated it apart from the fact you can flip the toy sharks over.

Call me sad, but I love this game - play this more than Motorstorm and Resistance - Its ace!

Im definitely not a paid forum poster - Its an ace game and loads of fun, but Im still rubbish at it and have to get my boyfriend to help me!.

I love this game too! Finished it on Saturday and tried to get a lot of golds. Managed a 2nd place somewhere in the harder levels (out of 532 at that time). It's a great little game. Nice water physics (that really matter in some levels), and the controls are good too. Note that you can jump. I was actually surprised to find that you can even make small jumps if you're careful, though that takes some getting used to.

Either they improved the game before release, or the EDIT:! IGN reviewer is an idiot.

Either they improved the game before release, or the Eurogamer reviewer is an idiot.

Errr, EG didn't even review it yet.

The infamous 3/10 score is in IGN, I think.

It's worth 3.50, it's a fun little toy and certainly a good use of the Sixaxis. The leaderboards are really something else, what with being able to download the top 5 players replays to watch. Very compelling.
  • SeesThroughAll #12 5 years ago

I hope we'll eventually get a PSN version of Mercury too. I'm pretty sure a lot of Mercury replays from the "masters" would get us scratching our head :)

This is a fun little game, me and the missus played it for a few hours the other night,

I think some of the levels beyond fun/tricky show the limitations of this sort of title and control method as you do have to be real accurate with the Sixaxis to a point which has gone beyond fun into infuriating.

I think the leaderboard sort of shows this up too as the farther you get the less there are on the score board, even with the crappiest time on later levels I still crack top 1000, you couldn't do this on the easier levels until getting a solid target time, I guess this is basically showing that all but the most determined have given up by this point :(

Needs more fun levels for dicking about with, for kids etc.

A level editor woudn't/shouldn't be too hard to roll up and put out.

    Gaming 3.0 ftw!
  • dragz #16 5 years ago

I liked the demo of this and judging from what people are saying here, the worldwide ranking system is pretty good. I guess you can't really go too wrong for £3.50.
  • drumbaby #17 5 years ago

Kids love it. I quite like it as a tech' demo. Worth the money at £3.50, definitely.
  • JYM60 #18 5 years ago

Wooooo this is like the bestest game of all time.

OK I was only joking there. Good enough game, nice rankings table and replays, and you get a game worth £3.50. IGN's review was harsh but theres no way this is 8/10 material. Surprised anybody is actualy reveiwing it.

This game's fantastically good fun. I couldn't believe when I got 5th on one of the fun levels the other day! The shark bonus game is also a cool twist, and it's great to be able to watch replays of the top players; so firstly you can learn a better way, but also just so you can be, at times, amazed.
  • finath #21 5 years ago

Yes. Super Rub'a'Dub. This game may not seem very interesting on trailers, but it's more fun (and sometimes frustrating) than I could've ever thought. It's also very addictive if you try to break the world records, or just try to improve your game little by little. Definitely better than 3/10.
  • johnderby #22 5 years ago

Where are you guys downloading this from at the special offer price. I'm logged in to Playstation shop and cannot see it listed anywhere?

    Cheers K
