Suikoden Tierkreis DS for Europe

Latest in RPG series out in March.

Konami plans to bring DS role-playing game Suikoden Tierkreis to Europe in March next year.

Tierkreis casts players as an unnamed member of a security force, who must set out to recruit up to 108 heroes to battle The One King. Parties are limited to four characters, mind you, and each of the personalities will have back-stories to uncover and various unique skills to use.

Action is set across parallel worlds, where each new campaign creates a bespoke universe. This is important because Wi-Fi allows friends to send characters into different games, or, more accurately, other worlds. And once there, they can pick up new quests, items, and meet new faces.

The Suikoden series began on PlayStation for Europe back in 1996, and has enjoyed numerous spin-offs to date.

Incidentally, Suikoden Tierkreis will be released across Japan later this month, and throughout the US sometime in February.

So, is this like a "proper" Suikoden game gameplay wise? Not that it matters, I'm getting this regardless.

I loved the original Suikoden on the Playstation to bits. Not sure what to think of the DS screenshots though...

    A good one. Ha!

Though I'd have preferred the answer "Golden Sun DS".

I like the anime style storytelling, but I'm skeptical about the story itself. I recently completed Suikoden V and found that, although the plot was set-up well, it quickly descended into a collect-em-all adventure reminiscent of Pokemon. If Tierkreis is in the same vein, I hope that the characters have fully-developed back stories. That might possibly justify investing the time required to collect all 108 stars of destiny.

I love the Suikoden Games! Been a fran for YEARS. Never got to play Suikoden III as it wasn't released here, but IV was awful, and V was pretty good!

However Suikoden I and II were of pure genious, and I would love to have played III to see my favorite characters what? 20 years older!?

Anyway the lack of reference in IV and V personally put the series on a slope, V helped a little, but I'm hoping future games can redeem the amazing quality of I and II.
