Street Fighter Sackboys this week News

News by Robert Purchese

9 December, 2008

Sony has said the Street Fighter-themed Sackboy and Sackgirl costumes for LittleBigPlanet will be available to download this Thursday.

The outfits mimic iconic brawlers Ryu, Chun-Li, Guile and Zangief, according to the US PlayStation blog.

Each costume can be picked up for USD 1.99, or bundled together for USD 5.99. European prices are yet to be set.

The blog goes on to promise even more costumes for LittleBigPlanet this week, and suggests checking back tomorrow for the reveal.

These costumes, first uncovered at the very start of December, follow the release of retro revamp Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix on the US PSN (and XBLA). Still no sign of the European PS3 version, frustratingly.

Head over to our SSFII Turbo HD Remix review to find out what we thought. Or challenge us to fight. We play as Fei Long because we're special.

Is this a hint SFII itself is coming too? Not that I care, I don't like fighting games.

Naw, that sure you're okay Ken tag doesn't really work, sorry EG.

As for the sackboys, these SF2 ones look cute, but I'm fed up of LBP costume packs already. Its getting as ridiculous as Rock Band / Guitar Hero tracks. The difference being, the RB / GH tracks extend the life of the game. The Sackboy costumes... not so much.

But just make sure you don't design any street fighter inspired levels with them.

Why hasn't HD Remix come out on the UK PSN yet? It's been out in the states for a few weeks now, surely?

Berelain, you don't have to buy the costumes. I know I haven't. I'm sure it's not hindering the development time on new objects, levels etc.

in an ideal world there would be a deal between sony and capcom or any other publisher where the sackboys are unlocked/downloaded when you purchase their game. i mean these should be available when you download sf2 or buy sf4 as a reward.

Not sure why SF2HD has been delayed on UK PSN its probably to do with lack of European servers for multiplayer.

We ordered it from the US PSN store though by creating a US account and purchasing a US $20 PSN network card/code and downloading it. Its 300MB.

The multiplayer worked lag free even against US players.

In other words, the UK/EU are going to be bent over and screwed, SCEE just has not decided how hard!
