Söldner-X: Himmelsstürmer set for PSN News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

8 September, 2008

Eastasiasoft plans to release side-scrolling shooter Söldner-X: Himmelsstürmer on PlayStation Network this October.

The game, not to be confused with the first-person shooter series of a similar name, has a dozen stages full of colourful baddies to fly a little spaceship through and blow baddies to pieces on.

Söldner-X: Himmelsstürmer is out on PC already, of course [of course - Ed], but has marked improvements on PS3. Backgrounds are animated and visuals polished, plus more music added and sound effects improved. There's also new enemies and sub-bosses to batter.

An easier difficulty level has been popped in to stop screams of anger, and the core system has been adjusted and now has fancy new victory screens for doing well.

Head over to our Söldner-X: Himmelsstürmer gallery to see what the game's all about.

I played the pc version, found it to be very busy, could never see where my ship was. This made it frustratingly hard, not in an Ikaruga way.

The reviews back in the day (already quite old) weren't that special. But seeing as there's a big lack of these games on PSN. It does fill a hole I guess.

Memo to Sony: stop announcing stuff and start releasing stuff. Start with Wipeout HD.

You can't beat a good unforgiving retro scroller to while away a Sunday afternoon.

Wonder if there's any news on a Gradius VI?

The word from anyone thats bought it is that it's a bit crap. With Einhanderand R-type Delta on the japanese PSN store and Thunderforce VI coming to PS2 in October there's no point buying this.

For a second I read this as 'Soldat' - another great side scrolling shooter.

@Razorus: Rather than post the question, why not do a Google search for "Söldner-X: Himmelsstürmer" and see if the first entry points at the game's website.

By criminy! It does: http://www.soldner-x.com/

@espibara

I thought they wanted to on live but MS wouldn't let them without 50mb limit, achievements and leaderboards. Then they said fuck off.
