Silent Hill composer joins Grasshopper
Yamaoka scoring EA Partners horror game.
Silent Hill musician and producer Akira Yamaoka has resurfaced at Grasshopper Manufacture following his departure from Konami in December.
According to Famitsu, in comments translated by 1UP, Yamaoka will begin by composing music for Grasshopper's upcoming horror title.
That game is being produced by Shinji Mikami, collaborated on by Q Entertainment and published by EA Partners, while Goichi Suda is acting as designer. Suda told Famitsu that he has admired Yamaoka ever since he first saw a Silent Hill 2 video at the Tokyo Game Show nearly a decade ago.
"That's why I thought I'd invite him over when I started hearing rumours that he left [Konami]," Suda said. Yamaoka described the move as "really good timing" and said he was "hooked on the company".
Grasshopper's recent output includes work on Fatal Frame IV, along with No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, which came out in the US recently.
