Sierra dishes out AvP details

What would Predator do?

Sierra Entertainment has finally revealed some new info on its upcoming Alien vs. Predator PSP game.

We now know for certain it will be a third-person action game, where you'll play as the stealthy Predator and hunt down both humans and Aliens. All of the usual gadgets are on offer, like the shoulder-cannon and wrist blades, as well as new futuristic toys like trip mines.

The best bit, though, is that the closer you adhere to the Predator's code of conduct, the better you'll be rewarded. This is based on an honour point system, which will let you buy better weapons and armour upgrades.

Multiplayer will be included, too, although it looks limited to a co-operative mode where you'll team up with other Predators to battle against waves of baddies. As if an entire squadron could take down Dutch. He's got muscles and brains.

Aliens vs. Predator was partially unveiled last week, where we learned original PC-game developer Rebellion would be creating it.

It's based around the upcoming Hollywood sequel, which is expected to air in December. While no date has been announced for the game, a Christmas release is a safe bet.

Cop your sensors on it over in our Alien vs. Predator gallery.

    Rebellion = hit and miss.

But I still have a soft spot for them, going back to the days of the Atari Jaguar and AVP (one of the 3 exclusive games actually worth owning).

AvP on the Jaguar was astonishingly good :)

I remember at the time, Edge magazine slating it though :(

My copy is still in my collection... sadly my Jag bit the dust a long time ago.

Atari Jaguar... The name alone invokes memories of playing Tempest 2000 for hours on end :)

Looks quite tidy for the PSP, especially the hunter vision mode thingy.

I really don't know why they are bothering making this for the PSP. Software sales are awful at present.

Should have been Wii...pointer used for the Predator laser sights, speaker for the motion tracker sound, motion controlled disc throws/slices..and it would have the benefit of current Wii hype...

....or stick it on the good old PS2 to benefit from the massive userbase.

Sticking a game on the PSP these days is basically like saying "Hey Pirates..a nice new game for you".

The predator was the weakest section of the avp games. He was too powerful.

except in the demo of avp1 where the marines were actually frightening because they could kill you in in 2-3 seconds if spotted. When the game actually released it was considerably easier and lost a lot of its suspense.

the new film might actually be good.

From what ive read, the directors/producers seem to have a good grasp of what made the old films tick.

Its going to be at least 16+, so plenty of violence/horror

    no predator/human team ups

The honour system was in the Jaguar version - and was a damn fine game.

am i the only one who like the jaguar with the big chunky joypad?

I got a Jaguar a few years ago to form part of my collection (and to play the mint copy of AvP of course as I'm a sucker for Aliens games!).

I hated the pad to be honest - it was just too big (but then again, I've got diddy hands!).

The only non-suckfest AvP was the one done by Monolith.
Alongside with Riddick one of the few really great license based games out there...

Or is that just the Monolith fanboi in me talking...?
