PS3 Slim with retailers next week

ShopTo offering special pre-order price.

ShopTo has confirmed to Eurogamer that PS3 Slim consoles will be available to buy well ahead of September.

Boss Igor Cipolletta told us stock will be delivered "middle or late next week", and ShopTo is offering a special pre-order price of £229.99 - 20 quid off.

Confirmation follows reports from the US, where Sony revealed that the 1st September PS3 Slim date announced at gamesom "isn't an official street date". "We expect most retailers to have 120GB PS3s by then," the spokesperson told Kotaku.

    Anyone know if ShopTo sell genuine UK consoles? I've bought electronics from places like play.com before and they turned out to be French versions...

    Looks like someone's trying to get banned asd fast as they can. :)

    Anyway, £230 sounds very agreeable - although how Sony have achieved that price point has yet to be seen. I suppose Digital Foundry's inevitable hands-on with the revised hardware will make any compromises in its performance evident. That is, if there are any to speak of.

    Less power usage may result in less fan noise, which let's face it, can never be a bad thing.

    And yeah shopto are reliable on the console front, got my 2 360's from there and my psp from there(albeit region free, but it palyed r2 umd movies so...........)

    first time im tempted at getting one, must say if backwards compatibility was in it i'd be much more tempted though, i wonder if that will be in a future slim revision.

    Dude... are you still poluting the website? Last read before I go for a beer or two and now im back and you are still posting bullshit all over the net? you REALLYT have no life? At least since you iobviously have a PS3 you should go use it all those hours you watse risking a stroke online... And funny thing cause those "chavs with 360s" since their console has the highest software attachment rate with "all of them buying 2-3 consoles" means that they have at leasy x5/6 more good games bought on their console, so what are you trying to point out?

    People like that make me wanna never post about consoles or games cause i do find this pathetic. I think Eurogamer should make it more serious and allow only to ppl over 21 the possibility to rate on the website and also those with proof of being mentaly stable allowed not only to vote but even post :p lol situations like Nick_581 next thing you know if you tell him his PS3 sucks he might go turn Emo. poor thang. Imagine if there is no PS4 in the future..? he will go jump off a cliff the momment they stop supporting his PS3 or something instead of buying another console.

    Backwards compatibility is dead and buried - I don't think Sony have ANY intention of ever bringing it back, amongst other removed items, such as "Other OS" option.

    The PS3slim looks really tacky to me. It's like a prototype plastic case and the corner cutting is unbelievably evident.

    It's amazing how the stubbornness over keeping just one feature of a console can bring a whole empire down. Sony has gone, literally, from hero to zero in one gen; from first to last and least.

    It's as if the head of SCE works for Microsoft/Nintendo covertly; once they have a huge lead, I'll revise the PS3 and reduce the cost to a (still extortionately priced, in my opinion) cost of £250 and PlayStation fans will be stupid enough to feel 'grateful' for the price reduction.

    I'm afraid I'm not buying into a shattered dream...

    It was officially annouced about 3 days ago that backwords compatibility will NOT be coming back on the PS3... You can read alll over the web the pst 2-3 days.

    As a none chav 360 owner I can afford a PS3...

    I just don't want one...

    Cheap... yes, good value... no (in my PERSONAL opinion from the features which would be useful to ME)

    Had to put a few bits in capitals before somebody says I am wrong, the reality is its a different opinion. If you don't like it I am sorry.

    It does look nice I must admit, but if there's no backwards compatibility, then I'm not interested. It looks to me as though Sony really want to BC issue to go away and have no plans to bring it back. Therefore I will never buy a PS3.
