Next Tenchu title to be Wii exclusive

Nunchuk could be used as nunchuk!

The latest Famitsu has said that the next instalment of the Tenchu series will be on Wii, with no other formats mentioned.

The series, seen by many as something of a fading flower after unfavourable reviews for Tenchu Z, could be seeking a resurgence.

Wiimote-enabled ninja moves could well be a draw, with all kinds of slashing and throwing of pointy things involved, but a significant increase in quality would also be a wise move.

Aquire are currently slated as developers, with From Software taking the publishing reins.

I bloody loved Tenchu Z, and only just got a Wii so I'll be getting this. Might pass on pre-ordering though as I have a feeling it'll be easy to aquire :p

    Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!

Is that "Noooooooooooooooo! Another Tenchu!" or "Nooooooooooo! Can't play it as I have no Wii!", because if it's the latter I wouldn't worry - it'll probably end up like a totally different type of game, like Samurai Warriors Katana. Either that or it'll rock :p

I actually really enjoyed Tenchu Z, especially in online co-op mode.

Sure it has its faults, but no other game does ninja stealth like Tenchu. In fact no other game does ninja stealth, period.

But i don't own a Wii, i don't really want one. Guess it's goodbye then Tenchu. I hope you and Project Zero enjoy your new low rent two bed flat... :(

Just to confirm: The PS1 versions were as shit as the rest of them.

The first game on PS1 was actually really great!
I hope this will be a fresh start for the series.

The earlier Tenchus were great for their time. Unfortunately, time moved on, but the series didn't.

    More gimmicky rubbish.

Fuck sake, give me a real next-gen Tenchu.

That would be the latter, i thought the next one would be on the 360 but actually take advantage of the hardware this time around.

I thought Wrath of Heaven was pretty good, roughly as good as the first one. Not that I bothered to play it for more than a couple of levels, mind.

Yes.. but as your momma will tell you when you're sobbing because you cant get laid.. "looks arent important"

You know.. if you keep saying it's gimmicky it MIGHT just make you forget that the only reason you like your console of choice is because of it's graphics gimmick.

ALL machines have a gimmick. But the only thing that matters are the GAMES and how well they PLAY.

The producton values on the 360 Tenchu Z where terrible. I found the game to be both relaxing and fun though and well worth my time.

I love Tenchu but played the demo of Tenchu Z and felt it hadn't improved enough to justify buying this time (may still pick it up cheap at some point though). Shame it's been demoted to Wii I would still like to see a true next gen Tenchu on 360/PS3

Oh and the PS1 original was the best game (if a little ugly)

P.S. Demoted in terms of graphics before you start smelly :)

Smelly, you defend the Wii with more vehemence than I would for my own mother.

    @bad09
Did you see the visuals on Tenchu Z? Even a bunch of drunk programmers with no arms could do better on a Wii! As much as I loved Z, it looked sub PS2. At least this means that like you say it'll be demoted, but not all that much (apart from to SD of course). I really hope they don't prove me wrong and make it look like the first Tenchu.
