Special MGS camo edition PSP
Out in Japan in December.
Konami is preparing special edition Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops PSP bundles for Japan, including a special camouflage-skinned PlayStation Portable console.
Shown off on the company's Japanese online store, the top end Konamistyle Limited Premium Pack also includes a snakeskin PSP pouch, a copy of the game and a matching strap, while the vanilla Premium Pack features a different pouch and strap. Apparently they both come with pins too. Excellent.
They're both due out on 21st December in Japan, with the top end edition due to go for 37,800 yen (EUR 253 / GBP 169) and the second-tier bundle for 27,800 yen (EUR 186 / GBP 124). You can catch a glimpse of both on the Konamistyle website.
Depressingly, though, online importers aren't exactly queuing up to send the systems in our direction - with Play-Asia, for example, offering the bundles to everyone except the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
Curses! Anybody got a bead on one somewhere else?

As for importing the console... I have no idea why anyone here would be considering that. What, have we all got goldfish memories or something? Sony have gone out of their way to hurt the ability of European gaming enthusiasts to pursue their hobby. They've gone out of their way to restrict the ability of dedicated and long-suffering European gamers to import Sony gaming products. They even shut down Lik Sang, a small operation that catered primarily to the sort of knowledgeable hardcore gamer types we have on this site.
So I say we give them exactly what they want. I sure as hell won't be spending any money on Sony products any time soon, imported or not. The hardcore gamer dollar may be a tiny segment of the market, and certainly it is true that if Sony has the Fifa audience it hardly needs the Ico audience, as the former is far larger than the latter... but it is the hardcore gamers that run the gaming websites, forums, and specialist press. I can't help but think we should be sending out a clearer message.
