Blazing Angels, Astropop on Live

Demo and Live Arcade game.

Xbox 360 owners unimpressed by all this PlayStation excitement (SPIT, etc.) can pop down to the Marketplace this evening and actually play some games instead - with Astropop joining PopCap Games' growing range of Live Arcade offerings and Ubisoft's Blazing Angels joining the demo line-up.

The 640MB Blazing Angels demo offers a taste of the World War II dogfighting game, which is out on Xbox 360, Xbox and PC on March 31st, and joins Burnout: Revenge and Battlefield 2: Modern Combat demos on this week's demo release list - the former's already up and the latter should be up tomorrow.

Astropop, meanwhile, is described as a space-age point-and-click puzzler, and is the latest of PopCap's little online PC offerings to appear on Live Arcade - after Feeding Frenzy and its ilk. You can actually sample Astropop using your PC, and there's a playable demo of it on Live Marketplace so you can see if you fancy buying it.

Astropop is far better than FF... but still quite average.

Blazing Angles demo does it's best to put you off ever buying the game.

There's a bit where you have to drop some stuff on a church, the targeting system is crap (not even visible on the screen half the time) and when you do finally hit after fifty goes it you're told to do it again!

I'm probably just rubbish, but this isn't fun.

I so wanted to like Blazing Angels, as I liked Secret Weapons Over Normandy on the Xbox. This game offered nothing new that SWON gave me, and I totally agree with Wabe's gripes about the mission training and the game in general.

I hate cancelling pre-orders for games I've been looking forward to, but indeed I have. Still, there's Animal Crossing DS out on the same day.

I hated the demo also, air combat is more fun that dropping leaflets but it's still a chore. I had to spend the entire chase holding the right thumbstick up in order to catch up with the jerries, wouldn't it have been easier to use the thumbstick to set the speed rather than act as a throttle which defaults to 'slow'?
