Play Commandos Strike Force

Well, a new demo, anyway.

Eidos has released a new playable demo for World War II shooter Commandos Strike Force - and it's now available on Eurofiles.

Weighing in at over 600MB, the demo lets you play through two missions and try out all three of the game's character classes - Green Beret, Sniper and Spy.

Commandos Strike Force promises to take the series in a new direction, with plenty of first-person shooter action all over wartorn Europe. You'll be tasked with completing all manner of action, infiltration and stealth missions as you travel around France, Russia and Norway, either on your own or via the game's online multiplayer mode.

Commandos Strike Force is out on March 17th.

Unfortunately, the demo is too short to tell if it's a below average FPS, or a clever puzzle game played from the FP perspective. The demo feels like the former, but it clearly has the potential to be the latter. What amazes me, however, is how it looks totally like the earlier games despite the completely new engine and perspective.

The first [demo] level plays more like CoD game than a Commando title. The spy level is closer however.

Commandoes had a USP - Clever, clever strategy gameplay with an even cleverer graphics engine. (I heard they use bitmaps for most part of a, er, map)

Pity they are throwing it all away.

The download file size is 600 odd mb and the demo is about 350. WTF??

@matrim83 : Only so they could stop me taking the demo home on my 512 MB USB.

Commandos 1 was Ace. I loved it.

Commandos 2 was Good. I finished it.

Commandos 3 was idiotely rock!! I only played 1 level and didnt quite finish that, far too hard compared to the first 2 and it put me off. So its sat on the shelf.

    /Interested in this one though.....

got the demo yesterday, finished the 2 levels in about half an hour. for some reason they lock the resolution to 800x600, but you can change it in the config file JuegoVer.cfg. but yeah, as unclelou said, you can't really tell anything about the game because the levels are so short, but i would say the AI is pretty weak. instead of the sniper intelligently taking out the MG42 gunner and other soldiers from his vantage point he just stands there doing nothing until you press tab to control him. it seems your team mates are incapable of fighting for themselves and just kind of randomly shoot in the general direction of the enemy and wait until you take them out. hmph.
