PGR3 Speed Pack released

12 new cars.

As promised, Bizarre Creations has released the PGR3 "Speed Pack" over Xbox Live Marketplace - giving you the chance to try out 12 new cars "and some cool gameplay enhancements".

The Speed Pack retails for 400 Microsoft points - around £3.40 - and consists of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Audi RS 4, Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Dodge Viper SRT-10 Coupe, Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, Lamborghini Gallardo SE, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII, Nissan NISMO R34GT-R Z-Tune, Pontiac GTO, Radical SR8, RUF RT12 and Saleen S7 Twin Turbo.

That said, Bizarre's also made it possible for you to download the cars individually for 60 Microsoft points if you'd prefer not to buy the lot all in one go - although obviously it'll be considerably cheaper to do so if you want more than a handful.

It's not all premium content though - in order to whet your appetite, Bizarre's made the first of those cars, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, available as a free download to give you an idea of what you can expect.

The Speed Pack, of course, arrives in time to get you ready for the PGR3 global tournament Microsoft recently announced - winners of which will be transported to Sant'Agata Bolognese in Italy to race around the Lamborghini factory.

Meanwhile, PGR3 players will also notice a small auto-update when they next fire things up, which presumably patches the game so it can see the new cars even if you don't buy them. There's no clear word on what else the Speed Pack/auto-update do, so keep an eye on the BizarreOnline forums for more information.

He's not wrong... no new tracks either. Is this the "cost" of "high definition" content?
  • Furbs #4 6 years ago

At least these ones actually have to be downloaded rather than unlocked :)

Cars are good bad news you need to sell some others to attain them. Booo come on Bizarre i need another garage :)

Games companies are getting greedy. Screw anyone who does this imho

Its inevitable that we will be paying for these add-ons alot more and on all platforms. The console manufacturers encourage it, it's money for guff for the developers/publishers and, despite what people here or anywhere else might say, gamers are buying into it. There is no reason for someone NOT to sell "micro" content or add ons that arent really worth the hassle of physical distribution. It'd just be nice if the new content was actually worth the money we are being charged.

    give us tracks.

We all know these cars will make no difference as Ferrari have paid you to make their cars the best in the game.

soon you'll have to buy the faster cars to compete :-(

    this isn't good.

Halo 2 had the right model:

BUY NOW (IF YOU MUST) .... GET FOR FREE LATER (IF YOU CAN WAIT)

I like the option of buying just the cars that you want. Systems like this can only be justified if they have more substance than style. Although the PGR2 downloads were really excellent to say the least but some of the cars were (for me) rubbish. I hated the fezza scaglietti. but loved the scooby 22B. But, here is one way of looking at it, how much will one game cost with all the cost of downloads, but then again, how many people purchased the FIFA franchise? and has that improved gaming if only to offer more licensed opportunities.

the "free" v8 vantage download is the same size as the speed pack - i would hazard a guess that the free one one will allow you to race other people on live who have the paid-for cars - therefore, how long will it be before someone works out a glitch workaround that will let you use the unlocked premium cars without paying for it... not long i'll bet. any takers?

    Yes.

"Games companies are getting greedy. Screw anyone who does this imho "

How is charging for content greedy? It's less than the price of a copy of EDGE and a lot less than a pack of fags!

Furbs, I can play with people using the new content, and I can also see their cars correctly. I haven't downloaded the new content.
