Football Manager PSP/360 dated

Taking to the pitch in April.

SEGA's announced that Football Manager will be released on PSP and Xbox 360 on April 13th.

Better - the PSP version, Football Manager Handheld, will have squad sizes of 36, an increase over the previously planned 30. Hopefully good enough to stop Nicky Butt storming off home to eat some porridge and moan about how he's been rubbish ever since he stopped playing with Roy Keane next to him.

As for the Xbox 360 one, which goes by Football Manager 2006, developer Sports Interactive's built in Xbox Live features including the facility to export saved teams and compete in 16-team knockouts or 8-team league competitions.

On top of that, there's the prospect of earning some of the 360's trademark Gamerpoints for things like signing your first player or "doing an Arsenal" in the league and going unbeaten for ages.

Plus, of course, both games feature all the January signings, so, if you have the PC one as well, you can now measure just how useless all that tat Harry Redknapp bought turned out to be.

We'll be taking a closer look at both of the new FMs in due course.

i always like these headlines that say something's "dated" before it's even been released...

I know on the PC you can very easily cheat by closing the game when your losing then restarting to get the result you want. You can also cheat by controlling another team and spending huge amounts of this new teams cash on your proper teams players.

Surely things like that would make any gamerpoints easy to fake.

Setting up and competing in small mini leagues sounds awesome however. Wish that kinda online feature was in the PC version :(

    Damn, you're first!

Still: The graphics always have been dated, regardless of the platform.

Nah, mate, I'm over it. If he can't put his hands up and admit, that's his problem. I've made my point and there's no need going over it again and again. He's not 'EG' is he? Only one writer out of many.

I think he means "even better than the fact that they are being released, the PSP version will also feature...", not that the PSP version is better than the X360 version. If that's what you were talking about!

36 player squad? As big as the Hearts first-team pool, then?
  • neon #10 6 years ago

People still play football manager games. Oh well. Same game just prettier replays.

Tbh. if I was a PSP owner, I'd be frothing at the mouth for this, so I can understand the sentiment, no matter how it was meant.

    @neon

    Erm. No.

*If* this is good, it might the straw that broke the camel's back for me getting a 360. Online leagues sound cool...

"In the meantime, Eidos signed up Beautiful Game Studios to develop a completely new Championship Manager game from scratch. The result was a bug filled mess that hasn't improved much with the second version. "

Errr not the PSP version. It's done by Guesto Games and widely regarded as very VERY good.

SI have a lot of work to do to beat it....

"i have champion ship manager "

    Ah, the Onassis family sim...
  • LetsGo #16 6 years ago

and I wont argue with that about the PC version :).

Current PSP Championship Manager is a great effort, will look forward to seeing what SI can come up with.

According to this link http://eg m.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3147792 FM 2006 on 360 is going to be the first game on 360 to 'require' a Hard Drive- unlucky all those who got the 'tard' pack
