Fight Night PS3 dated

For the Americans anyway.

The game everyone except all of you has taken to calling "Fighty McNighty" will be arriving on PlayStation 3 in the USA on 12th December, EA Sports has revealed.

So that's Fight Night Round 3, just in case you were in any doubt, which is of course already out on Xbox 360 - where it was one of the most popular downloadable demos ever, and a big critical success and everything.

The PS3 version will have some of its own moves to show off though, including the previously announced "Get in the Ring" mode, where you can play the game entirely in first-person.

That ought to be quite an experience, too, since one of the things FNR3 was most widely acclaimed for was its brutally realistic depiction of facial damage.

Anyway, as for when it's out over here, EA simply has it down as "TBA", but our money's on it being served up at the PS3's European launch.

Great graphics, dull game. Bring back Ready to Rumble with a shiny next gen sheen :)

    hmmm....

/ponders if the motion sensor will be "used" *ahem* shoehorned in the "get in the ring" mode.

The PS3 version of Fight Night Round 3 looks a noticeable step-up visually from the 360 version but then you'd expect that for a game that has had an extra six months development time.

It was a good game on the 360 but it's not one I could enjoy playing for hours on end as it's too repetitive. Also the training mode was very poor. Nice graphics though and decent animation except for the rather unnatural looking dodge moves. It would be nice if the PS3 version is an improvement other than visually.

Best game so far on the 360. Live was surprisingly smooth too considering it was EA's own servers.

Are they releasing FN4 this year? I've spent many many hours honing my craft on the demo but didnt want to buy it if the next one's just round the corner.

Blah... apart from pretty facial damage this game was atrociously lacking in pretty much every area. Hopefully they spent a little more time adding substance to the game rather than make it extra pretty.

The fact they're only rendering 2 fighters (cut'o paste models outside the ring dont count) or a ring woman, actually speaks volumes as the characters themselves arent that brilliant when you put it in that kind of context.

    EA LAZY NEXT GEN MOFOs.

    easy 1000 gps to, bonus.

The Fight Night series normally gets launched every 2 years unlike EA's other sports titles, so amazingly don't expect FNR4 until 2008.

No it has been yearly thus far......

Fight Night: US April 5, 2004
    Fight Night 2: US March 1, 2005
    Fight Night 3: US February 20, 2006

Would be nice if they moved to two yearly, might get a decent fleshed out career mode that way :)

Yet another EA franchise that adds one little extra each year and slaps another $60 price tag on. Why do we need a yearly boxing game with no new boxers?

If you had the first Fight Night, you've had them all.

A boxing game with a first person mode? Thats, like SO next gen and worth parting with £500 quid for, for sure...... isnt it? It IS, right?
  • Bates #11 5 years ago

"Thats, like SO next gen and worth parting with £500 quid for,"

Wow yeah, because we all know people buy consoles to play just one game after all!

Now where's the console that costs 500 quid? :/
  • Steroyd #12 5 years ago

    eh?

never felt like fight night was released every year.

I must switch off when it comes to EA games. :/

Probably a silly question but will the PS3 have achievement points? It's a small thing I know but most 360 owners love the sight of that achievement logo flashing up.
