SingStar Legends team up News

PlayStation 2 News by Tom Bramwell

10 August, 2006

With SingStar Anthems barely out the door, Sony has announced that another compilation pack - SingStar Legends - is on the way in time for Christmas.

Legends, due out on PS2 in "early November", promises "a selection of the biggest household names in musical history" including Elton John, The Beach Boys, Johnny Cash, The Jackson 5, John Lennon and Nirvana.

There are no details on any planned tech upgrades to the game, but these SingStar updates, as we all know well by now, generally consist of new songs rather than new features.

Still, there's a healthy mix on the track-list, parts of which have been announced today. The full list will be announced nearer release, presumably, but in the meantime we're told to expect:

  • Elton John - "Rocket Man";
  • The Beach Boys - "Surfin' USA";
  • The Police - "Roxanne";
  • Johnny Cash - "Ring of Fire";
  • The Jackson 5 - "I Want You Back";
  • Tina Turner - "What's Love Got To Do With It?";
  • John Lennon - "Imagine";
  • Nirvana - "Smells Like Teen Spirit";
  • Ben E King - "Stand By Me";
  • David Bowie - "Life On Mars?";
  • The Righteous Brothers - "Unchained Melody".

Along with a host of others to make up the traditional 30. And, as usual, the game will be released as a standalone pack and available as a bundle with two SingStar microphones and a USB converter.

yay and all that.

i'm a big singstar fan... it's just a shame that they've dropped the ball somewhat with the ps2 versions. i'm hoping for A LOT of downloadable songs for the PS3 version.

Still, Rocket Man will be a blast :)

smells like teen spirit FTW!

\but i'm to shy to stand infront of a bunch of people and sing

maybe if they made a waterproof one for use in the shower (for the PSP perhaps).

WHEN are they going to make Singstar Swings?

I mean, come on! A rat-pack inspired selection of songs would be great! The tracklist in Singstar Anthems is abysmal, probably the worst so far.

If there's no "New York, New York" on this then someone, somewhere will deserve shooting.

This site has an unhealthy obsession with SingStar.

I believe it to be somewhat troubling.

Do we know why Anthems was mysteriously missing 10 songs yet? That really annoyed me :[

I must agree, Life On Mars has me very excited indeed!!!

It better be 30 tracks!

And it better not have the mysterious "technical issues" that SingStar Rocks has become infamous for.

What technical issues are those? I've not seen or heard of problems with Rocks.

I've done Teen Spirit in karaoke before, its not pleasant for those around you if you have strong lungs believe me. Best done in a field rather than a small room :)

Kangarootoo, many users (myself included) have fallen victim to faulty Rocks discs in which the video freezes and the music cuts out completely yet you can still sing and be scored. At least until the pause manu pops up all on it's own. Swapping the disc doesn't help and it seems that certain PS2s both old and brand new, are imcompatible with this disc.

You can read about it here:
http://arewold.wordpress.com/singstar-ro...

Even good old Wikipedia mentions the problem.
