NBA Street for PS3, Xbox 360 News

News by Ellie Gibson

9 August, 2006

Electronic Arts has confirmed that the next instalment in the NBA Street series is coming exclusively to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

They've yet to reveal many details about the game, other than the fact that you'll be playing in "a hyper-real world", featuring famous venues alongside the hometown courts of NBA stars. These will all merge "into one seamless city of streetball moments", apparently.

You'll be tasked with earning respect and building up your reputation as you rise through the ranks to become a basketball legend. You can expect the same "easy to pick up and difficult to master" gameplay, plus "progressive visuals".

EA has yet to announce an official title for the game, but they have confirmed it'll be in the shops next spring.

Not sure what it was but NBA Street 2 always seemed better than the 3rd... can anyone help me put my finger on it?

Sure: when you played the third you were actually playing a re-packaged version of the second and all your love had already been spent on the game. Bit like Tiger 2003 being cool, and then 04, 05 and 06 being pretty much the same game. Dull.

Well I don't like the franchise as such but it will be interesting to see if there are any graphical differences between the two...

third party games = no differences.

Well if you use HDMI might make the image look clearer or somethin'.

I dunno.

HDMI doesn't improve picture quality from what I'm told, it simply allows the PS3's higher resolution of 1080p (Which isn't going to be noticable as the game will likely be upscaled 720p)

The second one in the series was pretty much one of the best sports games I have ever played. It was amazing in almost every aspect, and the whole street-vibe didn't even feel tacked on. Haven't played the 3rd though.

Same here. Loved the second game, never bothered with the third. Nor FIFA Street. Nor NFL Street.

EA = Use always the same game, change the menus, update the players names and there you have it! EA cash in '02,'03,'04,'05 and so on. Don't forget the "I don't care who plays the 2004/2005 online games, so let's shut it and force them to buy the "new" updated game at full price"

This is going to be a really fun game to play on the Xbox 360; my friends and I will probably be there to purchase it on the very first day it is for sale. I am glad to see that this is announced especially for the Xbox 360 and PS3, because they are the only two "Next Generation" games systems that focus on High Definition gaming and true 5.1 Digital sound. The Wii is actually referred to as a "New Generation" game system because of its focus on new gameplay rather than improved graphics or sound. The Xbox 360 and PS3 graphics will have very high polgon count models with high definition graphics in mind. Keep up the good work EA.
