X360 gets Fight Night 3 demo

Plus two trailers, too.

Electronic Arts has released a new demo for Fight Night Round 3, the first Xbox 360 instalment in the hit boxing sim series - and it's now available for download via Xbox Live Marketplace.

Weighing in at 486MB, the demo lets you play part of a fight as either Bernard Hopkins or Roy Jones Jr. There are also two new trailers to download - the first one runs at 720p and is 61MB, and the 11MB trailer runs at 480p.

This isn't the first time a demo has been made available in the Marketplace - you can also try out Condemned and Quake 4. Let's hope there are many more to come, which seems likely since Xbox Live seems to be doing very well since the launch of Microsoft's new console; according to Peter Moore, more than four million pieces of game, music and movie content have been downloaded since the console's US launch on November 22, would you believe.

EA has yet to announce a European release date for Fight Night Round 3 - but as you'll know if you've seen the screenshots, it seems to be shaping up very nicely indeed.

I've probably said before on these pages that FN2 is one of my favourite XB games. I'm not into boxing one bit, but the combat mechanics are really well designed. I'll be watching this with interest (though in the back of my mind I am entertaining fears that EA will do a "Burnout" on it, dilluting the gameplay with eye and ear candy).
  • davyuk #3 6 years ago

I'll have to download this just for those gfx. Not my type of game though.
  • Darkedge #4 6 years ago

  • Xerx3s #5 6 years ago

Downloaded it. Played it for 60 seconds. Exited. Deleted. What a piece of crap. Im ashamed that i ever even touched it. How could i be so stupid to think that ea could make anything worth spending time on.

Erm.. you can actually try out NBA Live 06, Kameo, FIFA 06: RtWC (but I can see why EG didn't mention that one!!!), NFS: Most Wanted and Madden NFL 06 as well and have been able to for quite a while now... /rolls eyes/

this has been on the US marketplace since last night.

if you have a UK 360 you can actually access the US marketplace by making a new passport account and linking it to a GT silver acc. on your 360 linked to the US region. the nyou get all the US stuff which is good since they ahve HD trailers of Xmen 3 and MI3..

which look nice in hdtv ;)

    xerx3s - really that bad?
    shame
    /jabs ea clones cyclone style
  • Darren #12 6 years ago

@Dbeamish - So if you can do that and watch and play US content, why is it not available to download from the UK Marketplace?
  • Xerx3s #13 6 years ago

@malteaserhead: It was THAT bad imo, for as much as that is worth. It is the worst DEMO that i played in....well ...4 or 5 + years. But then again, there are most likely alot of ppl who think that this is the bomb. These are prolly the same type of ppl as me mate who think that DBZ has more depth than Cowboy Bebop. It all comes down to perspective i guess...

Id say, dont take me word for it and download it or demo play it @ your local gameshop.

REPENT! REPENT! 1,000,000,000 hail mary's might save your soul for thinking this evil thought. ;p
  • dbeamish #16 6 years ago

    @Darron..

well apparently the content is not provided by MS - the studios decide what to offer each area so its down to them. That, and the MI3 and X3 trailers have not even been BBFC rated when I checked a couple of days ago.

I'm no EA fan particularly, and FN2 still smelt of sliding menus and licensed music (all 5 tracks of it), but somehow some great design crept through too.

Each to their own I agree, but as opinion is clearly divided (bare in mind I've not actually played THIS version yet) I would suggest people give it some time and see what they think.

Xerx3s you have to be kidding right?

Even from this demo it is clearly something very special. Graphics are most definitely next gen.. even in its demo form I think it is more playable than the previous FN games (which I reckon are the best boxing games out there - and one of the few decent EA releases) ...the no hud idea works great too..nice one..

Holy fucking hell, now this finally seems to be what high def gaming is about. The graphics are unbelievably stunning through my hdtv, the attention to detail is unreal, especially on the crazy ass close ups of your final knockout punches to your opponent. You can see the tiny lil bumps on the skin, flying blood and sweat and wrinkles around the elbow joints,i'm really impressed. The fighting engine itself seems to be very much like fight night round two's,but I was fan of that anyway so it matters not. It's certainly going to be going on my pre order list.Bravo EA,...at last.
Ohh blackdog even though you do talk a lot of shite, and normally I can't even be bothered to acknowledge you,I thought i'd let you know that yes the graphics are of fmv quality, and yes it's all running through the wonderfull, cosmically powerfull xbox 360 console, but feel free to wait for the ps3 version coming March 2007.

I hate EA as much as the next guy, but that was pretty damn good.
  • morriss #21 6 years ago

Xerx3s diesn't like it because it's made by EA. Go on the forum for a more comprehensive, less biased and generally more intelligent view of the game.

  • Xerx3s #22 6 years ago

Ow here we go. The graphics looked oke. But my problem is the controls and the whole 'underground' style that ea just luvs. The controls are crap imo and i despise the style. Even the intro & menu style is absolute shite imo. Like i said, its my oppinion and i refered the guy to find it out for himself and form his own oppinion. If i was a biased, i wouldnt do that.

EA has diffrent ideas on what makes a good game than me. Fair nuff. Its just that i cant recall any game that they made since '98 that took me fancy. They target certain groups of gamers, im clearly not one of them. I think that it is save to say that i play games that other ppl dont like. Every man his own style id say.

And morris, just because i actually took the time to look at this game and get a feel for how much it is worth imo, to form an oppinion based on actual gameplay, isnt reason enough to personally attac me. It actually says more about you than it says about me. If you had any 'intelligence', as you refer to it, you would know that individuals form different oppinions and everyone has the right to have his own. Hence my reference to finding it out for himself and not taking my word for it.

    My exact words beeing:

"Id say, dont take me word for it and download it or demo play it @ your local gameshop. "

You where speaking of intelligence eh?

    ....
  • morriss #23 6 years ago

    I didn't personally attack you.

I implied certain things about your comments, but not about you personally.

You definately implied something about me personally.

You can't hold me responsibly for the way you interpret what I say.

    :)

Played the demo. Boxer's look amazing, animation and crowd look pants. Basically you're watching these two ultra realistic guys, yet they still animate like games from the last 10 years. And why do the guys in the crowd not follow the action? They just stand there facing forward and cheering, even when you're almost perpendicular to their stares.
  • Placebo #25 6 years ago

As a long-time boxing fan myself I await it with interest, from what I've been reading on other forums from boxing fans it simulates fairly well the sport of boxing, supposedly more sim like than the previous two.

I just hope they've removed a lot of the superfluous and disrespectful crap that was seen in the first two Fight Night games, such as classic boxers such as Ali or Frazier coming out to hip hop music and doing somersaults when winning, and worst of all, when knocking down an opponent simulating digging a grave and burying them, how many boxers have died in the ring? How many boxers have been severely injured in the ring? To simulate digging a grave in a boxing game is disrespectful and IMO highly offensive.
  • Furbs #26 6 years ago

How many boxers have died in the ring in the modern era? I'm struggling to think of many here. I can think of at least 3 people who have died on the football pitch though. Maybe the phrase "he buried it" should be removed from commentaries? :)
