SimCity, Black, Road Rash, Rings on EA schedule
More hints from conf. call.
Having revealed that it's working on several new Sims games in its investor conference call this week, EA has also hinted at several other new titles.
And we're not just talking about the inevitable yearly updates either - with chief financial officer Warren Jenson, whose comments were picked up by GameSpot and Firing Squad, mentioning another Lord of the Rings game, a new SimCity and a next-generation version of Criterion's critically acclaimed console FPS Black.
Lord of the Rings may have wound down at the cinema, but EA's still managed to turn out some spin-off titles in the last 12 months, like the rather good Battle for Middle-Earth II strategy game and PSP turn-based title Lord of the Rings: Tactics, while SimCity is about due for a return and Black always looked like it could do with a next-gen playground.
Elsewhere, Firing Squad reports that the conference call also bore mention of comeback for motorbike title Road Rash, along with a new Simpsons game released to coincide with the next TV series in the US.

Why complain when they're putting out some good product (at last)?

Definitely, although I think a heavily enhanced Sim City Classic would work better given the cpu and resolution.
Also, I'm no fan of quicksaves, but some checkpoint saves would be nice in Black II.

Ah, so we are not talking about EA at all then? Good.

You know, it's a shame games don't have comic book style crossovers as a Road Rash Vs Carmageddon game would be great.

I like your suggestion, since the SNES version is my favourite version of Sim City.
Some realisation of the next-gen Road Rash is great news, too. I hope that you can create your own online motorcycle gangs, with your own insignia and build up notoriety. That would be fun. But the visuals, combined with a real sense of speed, and hi-impact action should really mean that Road Rash hits the road running! Yeah!
(It'll be the final nail if they mess it up, though...The legacy of their nineties performance would be utterly exhausted, in its influence.)

ah SimCity - i am still playing on my PS2 SimCity2000 which i picked up for a £5.
What a game - can't wait for the next version, and hopefully some interesting Download content to go with it such as nbuilding packs and the like.
you do realise that since sc2k there has been a sc3k and sc4 with downloadable building packs and editors and an expansion ?
sc4 is a great game ... well worth a look if you're into that sort of thing.

Can I just say, "it's about bloody time!" And something along the lines of MegaDrive classic RR2, please -- the various pseudo-real CD-ROM based efforts were cack.

Sounds like it will be MotorStorm for the X360...

They should just make that Live-enabled on marketplace. And the original EA Hockey.

I agree, in principle, but I can't really see how you'd make it in the least bit fair on bikers. Still, I'm for it, if only to see numptys on bikes vs. the Suppressor.
