New Xbox Experience dated News

Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

9 October, 2008

Microsoft's New Xbox Experience dashboard update will launch in 26 countries on 19th November.

Live and services bigwig John Schappert said as much during his Tokyo Game Show keynote address, which we're covering live at the time of writing.

Schappert also said that Xbox Live now has more than 14 million members.

Prior to that, he revealed that Metal Slug 7 and King of Fighters 98 Ultimate Match from SNK Playmore are on their way to Xbox Live Arcade. The former boasts new weapons, missions, bosses and modes, but has no release date, while the other sounds like a port, and is due out in spring.

Before then, we'll be able to check out Space Invaders Extreme (jolly good on the DS and PSP) from Taito, and Arkanoid Live (thoroughly rubbish on the DS), both of which are out this winter. Microsoft also mentioned R-Type Dimensions, which we already knew about, saying it had two-player co-op on and offline, and lets you switch between 2D and 3D graphics at will.

Schappert also said that over 1000 games have been submitted to the XNA Community channel.

For more on the upcoming dash update, check out our New Xbox Experience page.

I am going to have a bit of a guess here, but it could be the countries where you can already get Live officially

Have a go at this list

Hey, keyboardmonkey, thanks for a link. Look's like your guess is right - list contains 26 countries, and article says about 26 countries. It can't be a coincidence..

Perhaps he mentioned 26 countries just because the update will spread through XBL initially (there's always the possibility to include it in game disks as well) and that's how many countries are officially supported...

/does not live in one of those countries.
/realizes that number 26 is not a coincidence..
/hopes that no IP check will take place when NXE is unleashed...

Which one? Ours is going to be up there next year. \0/

1000 sounds nice but from what I can see, there is a lot out there that's rather shit and unoriginal. Still, if even one proves to be a true classic, it will have been worth the effort.

Metal slug 7 is very short as metal slugs go. Looks like they are starting to run out of ideas.

Just in time for Left 4 Dead. That party chat feature will work wonders with it I imagine.

Metal Slug 7 has more new ideas and more replay value than any Metal Slug ever.

I'm hoping that after the update, live won't be broken for a few days like it seems to be after every update. I.e: Being disconnected, dashboard never syncronising etc. Because left 4 dead is out shortly after and i don't want to be disconnected every time i want to play co-op!

I'm actually shocked this thread has reached 16 without griefers going on about Wii rip offs.
