New PS3 firmware update
Doesn't do a whole lot.
Sony Computer Entertainment has released a new and not very exciting firmware update for PlayStation 3.
Titled, not very excitingly, update 1.92, it became available for download yesterday. Sony didn't simultaneously release a list of what it actually does, but has since confirmed on the PlayStation blog: "Weve released a minor firmware update (version 1.92) for the PS3.
"This update focuses on some PS3 compatibility and playability issues for select titles."
They're not saying which titles. But they did state that "a search site for looking up compatible titles" is currently in development", so that's something.

The UI seems a little quicker, the pad switches off and Warhawk lets me connect to more servers now.

P.S. I couldn't see any power saving feature in the System settings either but then why should you have to enable something that should be on by default?

Maybe the pad has to be totally still, because when I picked up the 'off' pad, I swear the 'press PS button' message popped up on the screen, suggesting some sort of use of the motion sensor. The message might of been there all the time though, I wasn't really paying attention properly.

Which is the only game that's not fully working, and I was playing on that loads to before I got my PS3.

Might be using the motion sensing to detect if the controller is being used or not as well as button presses, nifty.

I left a game in my mate's PS3 and went to get it on my way out, and I had to switch the telly on to be able to switch the console off

KEEP TOUCHING the power button until it beeps and the LED turns from green to red? Even my cat learned how to do that.

Because I've tried keeping hold of it (as has my mate) and nothing happened

If that doesn't work, then your mate's PS3 is almost surely borked.

It would be nice if Sony could put up a status page for the PSN on it's website.
