New 360 hard drive bundle coming soon

It'll reach Europe in just a few weeks.

Microsoft has confirmed the new Xbox 360 hard drive bundle announced for the US last week is coming to Europe too.

According to the Gamerscore blog, it'll cost GBP 59.99 / EUR 79.99. For that you get a 60GB hard drive, a three-month Gold subscription to Xbox Live, a headset and an ethernet cable.

The bundle will be out in the UK on 19th November and in the rest of Europe from the 21st.

Never mind that, with my 3 year warranty nearly up and the need for a 120gb HDD if the installs make a difference, I was thinking last night of trading in for a Elite.

Any idea what a 360 with 20gb get's on trade in Blockbuster guys?

Still quite expensive. I'd rather just put my money on an Elite (black fits better in my livingroom anyway). Better than throwing my money away on a 120gig HD.

Still too expensive IMO... should be under £50 really, preferably £40 considering those size drives are dirt cheap to fit in laptops and PS3s.

    @ OnlyMe

I like the black to :) Even looked at black skins for my HD DVD last night!

It'll go with my PS/PSP and (eventually) Sky HD \o/

Why not bundle it with a one year Live subscription? Anyone buying a 60-gig hard drive is more than likely going to be a long-term / 'hardcore' gamer who's been on Live and needs a renewal. Sure why not even make it a wireless headset? Upgrades all-round!

Dr Faulty.. why on earth would they bundle a year with it when the retail price that they could get for a years sub is 40 quid?
I would prefer it was cheaper and with nothing. 48 hour trial and no headset personally. It shouldn't be 60 quid anyway - shocking.

Or you could walk into any Comet store in the UK and buy a 120GB one for the same money.

Does the Arcade not come with a headset? Otherwise what's the point of that?
  • MikkyX #10 3 years ago

Is there a data transfer cable included as well?

    No HDD transfer kit?

Surely most people buying this already have a 20GB HDD and would want this to take advantage of the new 'install to hard drive' feature which isn't best for the 20GB HDD?
  • optimusprym8 #13 3 years ago

The Data Transfer Kit I tried over the weekend didn't work with the 60Gb drives dammit, only the 120Gb versions. How hard can it be!?
  • asphaltcowboy #14 3 years ago

They really ought to put a wired headset in there...
  • vaudrj #15 3 years ago

As I understand it this pack does not come with the data transfer kit, would much rather see an offer for existing users to upgrade to a 60 or 120 drive. The arcade users had the option to buy more stoarge recently !

  • penhalion #16 3 years ago

Got to get this as I want to take advantage of the quiet gameplay you get with the HD installs.
  • BlueDot #17 3 years ago

Can you use 2 drives with the 360 ? Fill up one, then put in another and swap between them as needed ?
  • Fab4 #18 3 years ago

They should drop the cost of a 120 gig HDD + transfer kit...stop this faffing around with subscriptions and internet cables.
  • Bagpuss #19 3 years ago

oooh, wait a mo, that means id be better off buying a 360 arcade pack plus this HD bundle,

    rather than the 360 pack @ 170+gold membership+headset.

    cool...just saved about £50.

You get a headset in the £170 bundle, and a 1 month Live Subscription, and obviously your 60Gb drive is included, so overall it is better value to get the £170 pack.

Why can't we just have the drive on its own for less money?

Does anyone have the answer to Blue dots question, I was wondering this too

"Can you use 2 drives with the 360 ? Fill up one, then put in another and swap between them as needed ?"

  • The_Game_Guy #24 3 years ago

    No deal.
But I will cut myself and buy the 120GB drive for HDD install goodness.
Or maybe I'll just trade for an Elite.
  • knocker #25 3 years ago

Bugger .. I need a bigger hard disk. But really not sure I want to make do with 60gb; too small, too expensive. And the arse-bleeding has only just healed up caused by buying the wifi adaptor.

  • cyber_nicco #26 3 years ago

I imagine you will be able to "order" the HD xfer kit for free like people upgrading their Xbox units can do. I'm sure this is meant to largely target Core or Arcade buyers, so they won't need one. It would just increase costs to include one in EVERY package.

I don't understand the whining. They have to charge what they do or they do or they'd just make it cheaper for everyone to buy the Arcade and buy the add-ons. I suppose they could raise the price of the Arcade, then lower the price of the HDD, just to shut up the constant whining and snivelling of the complainers on forums such as these...
  • MARKIV #27 3 years ago

Curry's are doing the 120gb at £89, this 60gb is obviously aimed at Arcade console owners. I'm still waiting on MS to do a caddy, so I can put a 320gb in there.

PS Bad09, this is a good tip , but how do you transfer your old files to the new 120gb if your trading it in. I guess you'd need a memory card..!?

Why should we pay so much for a 60GB Hard Drive when we can get 120GB for the same price.
