Mythic "resolving" sketchy WAR servers
Large scale, final tier battles cause trouble.
Mythic Entertainment has assured fans that Warhammer Online player-versus-player servers will be fixed following complaints about their stability in the MMO's higher levels.
"The WAR community has expressed concern with overall performance and server stability in Tier 4, particularly during large-scale fortress sieges. We want you to know that we're listening and dedicated to resolving this issue as quickly as possible," said the developer in an update on the WAR website.
"RvR is a core element to Warhammer Online, and we are committed to making it an enjoyable and exciting experience for all of our players.
"Our ultimate goal is to have our players focused on fighting their opponents and experiencing the thrill of RvR the way it should be. Thank you for your continued support and patience while we work to resolve these issues. We'll keep you updated on our progress," added the post.
Those PVP battles are the podium feature of Warhammer Online, and relieve the tedium of levelling right from the off.
But the Mythic MMO has stumbled after a strong start, and now faces immense pressure from fantastic expansion packs World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King and The Lord of the Rings Online: Mines of Moria.
Head over to our Warhammer Online gamepage for our thoughts on the fantasy challenger.

"But WOW just feels.... better to play. The way combact works, the damage feedback, spells etc. It's just more polished."
I think WoW's just smoother and more responsive rather than more polished as such, but you're right, Blizzard got it to that stage after I don't know how many patches, server and infrastructure changes.
I remember the first year was appalling (especially the summer), I'd frequently have to spend a minute or two trying to loot as my character knelt next to a mob, unable to do anything else until the "that would be stealing" line was spoken. I don't know if it was just bad action/command queue system or a problem with the loot system or whatever else caused it but it took them ages to sort it out.
Similarly, the game froze or you'd be attacked by invisible mobs or mobs stuck on weird parts of geometry who could hit you from miles away but were "out of range" to all of your attacks and so on. Oh wait, those last ones still happened in TBC.

I never did play WAR past the first few weeks. I appreciate RvR a lot, but aside from that, WAR still has a world that feels locked in, much like WoW's.
Cities for example, aren't placed in the middle of zones so that they can be attacked from each and every direction, but rather they are placed at the end of a zone, with mountains to lock off the vicinity and the zone's borders, with only a few points of entry. That to me, kind of negates some of RvR's non-linearity.
I also agree with you that WoW feels better as far as combat and its feedback goes. The same applies to scenery - or making the world feel diverse and interesting - where Blizzard really is king, a long with more highly profiled lore-characters and what have you.
WAR really could've been great if it had been a bit bolder.

Thats where I disagree, in terms of polish yea WoW has had four years of it, WAR 3 months ish, in terms of combat sorry but i'd rather favour WAR on that as unlike WoW, WAR makes every class and class build feel useful, proc tanks in WoW for example are great in a pve situation but due to the very high white damage spkes in pvp it's very much like cannonfodder, WAR on the other hand with it's collision dection, makes a tank FEEL like a tank in pvp situations - they are that brick wall in WAR added to the fact tanks are very good at blocking spell with their sheild both defence and agressive tanks work. Same goes for healer types - WAR actally rewards you for healing so you don't have to be 'I R SHADOW' to actally gain anything from pvp.
As for 'feedback' Blizzard still opt for the like it or lump it changes in WoW, pallys have been gimped and then buffed madly throughout the years, whereas Mythic have already set back a lot of things in patches due to player's feedback already, heck they stopped the beta to competly change the way RVR worked due to player feedback, between 1.06 and 1.1 patches in dec theres a lot of positive changes on the way, client, class and rvr.
If players do give WAR a chance four years on it'll be just as strong as WoW is now, well hopfully a LOT sooner

The article you have basically cribbed from a source, gives the implication that RVR is unstable. Which it is, but the battles which were causing the problem, were involving 800 people. The smaller battles are perfectly fine. I think its important to put it into perspective thats all.
These uber large scale battles are obviously showing up issues, which will hopefully be addressed shortly or may show up other issues further along.

Kremlik, Blizzard don't listen to the bulk of player feedback for good reason
