MX vs. ATV Untamed demo

Live on Live now.

If you go down to the Xbox Live today, you'll be sure to find a demo for MX vs ATV Untamed.

It should take a few minutes to cop hold of at 911MB, and it will give you a taste of what to expect from the first next-generation outing in the racing series.

Untamed has a new Rhythm Racing physics engine, you see, which apparently makes all the difference when you are jumping on things like plant pots in a giant indoor arena - some sort of event called Endurocross.

THQ has also boasted about it looking a lot better because of the grunt of the new machines, although we're not as convinced after picking apart the screenshots.

MX vs ATV Untamed is due out on 360, PS3, Wii, DS and PSP on 7th March.

This plus track designer plus ability to swap tracks / play custom made tracks on LIVE with friends = WIN!

There are some horrible FPS drops when you have a few bikes on screen at once, much like multiple cars on screen in Colin McRae Dirt.

Demo is also on the US Playstation store. Seems kind of like a crap version of Motorstorm without the fun or insanity.

What a disappointment this demo is. It plays OK but it's exactly the same game as Unleashed on the Xbox, even has the same bizarre floaty moon physics, plus the same graphics!!! Yep, Untamed manages to look like it's emulating Xbox code with appalling 2D grass, bland textures and jaggies but with added slowdown and v-sync tearing. Yep, that's right, I played the Xbox version of Unleashed at 720p and it very little slowdown and NO tearing but this game does. How on earth Rainbow Studios have managed to make the game technically worst on a more powerful console I do not know because it looks piss-poor visually! :?

The only good thing I can say about this demo is the neat way it lets you play around in a practice arena while it loads a la FIFA. Other than that, it comes across as a poorer version of Unleashed and doesn't come remotely close to matching MotorStorm on the PS3. I'll save my money for the MotorStorm sequel, ta.

A bit ropey here and there and a new game engine supposedly, i think the last mx vs atv was still built on the motocross madness engine from the 90's. Still the only game to get for anyone thats had or rides a dirt bike. Anyway the important bit of a game like this is how much lag online?

The PS3 demo is even worse than the 360 version with a poorer framerate, more tearing and it looks so jaggy, it'd pass for a non-upscaled PS2 game nevermind a 720p Xbox one. Shocking... really shocking... :?
