Mass Effect 2 Overlord DLC dated

Duke: Manhattan Project for XBLA too.

Microsoft's latest Xbox Live schedule has given us solid dates for the Mass Effect 2 Overlord expansion and the Xbox Live Arcade re-release of Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project.

Overlord introduces a new villain, five new missions, a new planet and a pair of new Achievements, and those of you still hammering away at the Collector menace can get stuck into that on Tuesday, 15th June for the previously announced price of 560 Microsoft Points (£4.80 / €6.70).

Apparently a Mass Effect 2 demo will be released on the same day.

As for Duke, the Manhattan Project - a side-scrolling shooter originally released on the PC way back in 2002 to decent reviews - will be with us on 23rd June for 800 Microsoft Points (£6.80 / €9.60).

This actually sounds like it could be a good amount of content, for around £4. This will allow me to tryout some of the weapons that have been released since I completed the game.

Now please allow me to use the special armour without the helmet.

My problem is that I dealt with the Collectors 5 months ago; I'd rather spend the money on new games.

Ooo next tuesday and I still have 600 points to spend!

5 missions sounds great, I guess I'll probably get this. The Kasumi mission was a bit of a letdown imo, but the Firewalker stuff was good. I reckon they should give us some more free stuff again.

Yeah, i think im going to have to pass. DLC for a game i completed ages ago and has no replay value isnt what i really want to spend my hard-earned wages on thanks.

I'll get it, but i'm a massive me2 fan, and i've hoped for a long time they're release content that can be played after the main story has concluded.

Again, some internet hyperbole already present about the outrageous sums required to play content. Those few pounds can be devastating i guess...

Looking forward to this, but I hope the new missions have dialogue. Shepard and co. were strangeley mute during the Firewalker missions.

I've barely touched Mass Effect 2 since I completed the main missions and side missions that came with the actual game. I've continued to get the DLC though, so it looks as though I'm going to have plenty of stuff to get stuck into whenever I do go back to the game.

Mass Effect 2 has taught me an interesting lesson about DLC. it really has to catch me when I am "in the zone" for a particular game. I loved Mass Effect 2 to bits, but the moment has passed now. Maybe its because its such a story driven game, and I got resolution, that I'm not so keen to dip back into the universe for some seemingly unrelated shooting and chit chat.

RDR on the other hand is in my drive right now, and it looks like the co-op DLC will be out before I've even finished the single player campaign. So I am totally interested in that, 'cos its right in the middle of my radar.

It not the fault of Bioware of course. Like I say, ME2 is an awesome game (as was AC2, which also finds itself in the same boat). Its just a personal comment really, that these days (and I'm not sure it used to be the case), I tend to play a game and move on. And if the DLC misses that window, I rarely come back.

Wait, so people aren't going to do a second playthrough of the game? I've been holding off on my second, renegade, Playthrough until a fair chunk of DLC had come out to bolster the experience. I'm loving the fact that when I start Mass Effect 2 again in August I'm going to have a new character, some new missions, the Hammerhead, some new guns, et al to play around with. Certainly better than what happened with Mass Effect 1 (which I still played through about a basquillion times)

Eraysor: "My problem is that I dealt with the Collectors 5 months ago; I'd rather spend the money on new games."

I have the same or at least a similar problem. ME2 is one of my favourite games of all times, but I just very rarely feel like replaying story based games - even deliberately trying to pick different conversation options and another class it's just all too familiar the second time through.
I actually did start a second ME2 playthrough, with an engineer (played solider on first run, as in ME1) and on the hardest difficulty (I'm usually a wimp in games, but felt up for a challenge). I got around four hours in and then I just sort of stopped playing and never felt like diving back in again - even with the release of the Kasumi DLC.

DLC is great for things like online shooters or racing games, but for me at least the only way I'm ever really going to like it for games like ME2 is if I happened to buy the game months after the original release with all the DLC ready to go. And that's just never going to happen with a game I've been looking forward to.

Just completed it again, for the last time, even though I forgot to make Mordin the escort and he ruddy died on me. A part of me wants to go through the last mission again and do it right.

Still, this may be worth a punt.

"Mass Effect 2 has taught me an interesting lesson about DLC."

Having the exact same sense w/ Fallout 3. I've even bought some of the DLC, but I just can't get back into the swing of the game.

I remember seeing DLC for Lost Odyssey and thinking that was just masochistic, to download more battles after playing a game for dozens of hours.

As for ME2, I think I'm still up for more of this one. It's polished and intuitive (and frankly, easy) enough to put down for a couple of months and then jump right back into. But I've got to catch up; haven't even played Kasumi yet.

I'd like some larger, more expansive content like the sort of thing that Dragon Age has been blessed with.

So far the DLC has been good for a 2 hour diversion but I'd like something a bit longer.

    Such a brilliant, brilliant game.

I'm early into my 3rd playthrough...could be worth holding back a bit for this.
  • Sunyavadin #16 2 years ago

VERY disappointed so far that some of the lacklustre DLC has been paid.
And TBH - how many people bought things like the costume packs? Would it have killed them to make THOSE free?
  • captain_panzerjager #17 2 years ago

will this be released for pc too?
  • comissars_handgun #18 2 years ago

    @ Nanocrystal

Yeah, I noticed that too. Hopefully your squad will have some decent banter this time round, and would it kill them to add some more post-main storyline conversations on the Normandy?

Ah fuck it I just want more Yvonne Strahovsky too...
