GAME unveils online rental service
Subscribe and get two titles at a time.
GAME has unveiled a sparkly new online subscription rental service similar to movie (and now game) destinations such as Love Film.
For an unknown but apparently "small" fee, members will be able to rent any two games at once for as long as they like. When the titles are done with they can be posted back and GAME will send another pick from the subscriber's online list.
All formats - Xbox 360, Xbox, PS3, PS2, PSP, Wii and DS - will be supported, and the underlying technology will be provided by SwapGame, which does this sort of thing already, only with a less well known brand.
GAME recently reported a sales boost of 16.6 per cent over the Christmas period, in part due to "exceptional demand" for single format titles.
The retailer now offers high street and online game sales, plus downloadable and now rental options. Show off.

So, either MCV and Eurogamer are still recovering from the new year party, or half the commenters are wrong

Sounds like you need to set up multiple lists. Specify 1 from your film list and 1 from your game list (or just specify 2 from the game list if you're in a gamey mood) and problem solved.

Skooch - you pay a monthly subscription fee, and as long as you keep paying this, you can keep the game as long as you like (as well as swap for other games - just like loveflm etc.).

Even better is their new listing system allowing you to have a disc assigned to a different list of titles. In my case, I have one list/disc for movies, another for TV boxsets and another for games. That way I've always got one of those at home at all times. Awesome stuff.

I find downloading for nothing easier and cheaper
If we were all this cheap what exactly would you have to download?
Comment below viewing threshold Show
Indeed.
But if we all rented, what would we have to rent?

Are the games you rent pirate copies then?

I had a 3 month trial with lovefilm, wasn't all that impressed, kept sending me all the films/games on the bottom of my list. Also tried swapgame for a while, wasn't worth the money IMO, kept getting the games on bottom of my list.

Simple solution - only put games that you want on your list.

I'd suppose with the economic downturn Eurogamer is going where the market is to stay financially viable - and for the type of people who tend to visit gaming sites thats more the teenage-360 crowd?
For Wii, DS or PC stuff (becasue I am that much of a geek) I tend to go elsewhere.
