Final Fantasy creator hints at new game
Next Mistwalker title to be unveiled this year.
Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi has offered the first hints at what we can expect from his next game.
Sakaguchi, you may recall, now runs Mistwalker, the studio behind Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. So what's he currently working on?
In a post on the Mistwalker blog Sakaguchi wrote, "Planning to basically put importance on having seamless control of the overall direction of the game, mixed with CG spectacle scenes.
"Controls will have a bit of a trick to it, while having a blend of RPG-type strategy and growth. Behaviours based on interaction with the situation around you... Wait, I'm not supposed to say more than this…"
Sakaguchi reckons he'll be able to properly announce the new project "sometime this year ". He hopes to post artwork, behind-the-scenes anecdotes and introductions to the people working on the game.
"With all the different elements and staff putting their "heart and soul" into it, it feels different from projects until now, but in a good way," wrote Sakaguchi. "Please look forward to it."

Infinite Undiscovery tried to be "something new" and it is much worse. Have no problem with re-use of old formulas if they make a proper job.

But maybe they're busy playing Gears, Killzone, CoD or something, falling into a specific genre doesn't make it more generic than 90% of the games out there.
I can understand complaints about the gameplay, loading, world, etc. But the characters were anything but generic. Hell, it wasn't even a orphan boy who get's kicked out of his village for once. And the story really did resonate with me. the story bits in between were amazing.

It's a shame it only really lets you explore properly on the 4th disc.

You're right, it's the other cliché: the amnesic hero! Otherwise, you have the annoying brats, the epic boobed women and a terrible villain.

Trolling much, aren't we?

Hehe, ah well, different tastes I guess. the characters were pretty likable in my book, even the kids, and I hate kids in games like these, weren't annoying to me. I also happen to like big boobs so that's fine with me as well. At least I know which ones are the males and who is female in this game, unlike most JRPG's.
But saying you played a lot of JRPGs and find this one of the worst just isn't a sentiment I can relate to at all. And luckily a lot of people don't either.

I just tried to start on Infinite Undiscovery after finishing it. I like the art style on it but so far that's about all. The combat's really not my cup of tea. I really don't know if I'll go back to it.
I might try the Last Remnant demo again, although last time I tried I didn't like the combat in that either. Maybe its time to get the PS2 back out and finish FFXII.

Things like LO and Blue Dragon are just so-so and seem better than they actually are due to the drought of decent JRPGs in the past five years.
