Empire: Total War half-price on Steam

As new Warpath Campaign launches.

Steam is halving the price of Empire: Total War this week to celebrate the release of the Warpath Campaign expansion.

Empire: Total War, which we gave 9/10 to, now costs £14.99 from Valve's download service.

The Warpath Campaign sets you back a further £6, and adds a North American adventure to the mix. This opens a handful of Native American factions, each with their own tech and units - and challenges you to repel the invading Europeans. The Cherokee tribe and co. can be picked for multiplayer skirmishes, too.

There are other pieces of DLC to snap-up on Steam, should you wish, plus a Total War: Mega Pack with all the key releases from Medieval: Total War upwards.

Doesn't matter how much E:TW is, there are much more deserving games and game developers out there who don't fuck over their communities by releasing broken code and then before that code is properly fixed, put paid-for DLC up.

Company of Heroes Gold and Supreme Commander Gold are a fiver each on Direct2Drive at the moment and actually, y'know work. Get both of these then get down the pub after work for a couple of pints with the fiver you'll have saved.

Don't touch this broken, buggy POS with a 10 foot bargepole.

I've enjoyed Warpath a lot. A lot of annoying region trading has gone on though, dastardly Cherokee being a thorn in my Iroquoian butt.

Game works for me and all the minor problems I did suffer were fixed ages ago.

Game works fine for me and I love it. This is great news for people who were on the bench about it because of price. ^^

I regret spending £30 on thus game and I don't even think it's worth £15. Doesn't come close to their previous games.

I bought this on Friday from Game for £19.99 :(

To all the game works fine for me posters, you may feel differently when CA put yet another patch out that breaks your saved games.

That's if you don't run into a bug that kills your campaign stone dead, that even previous saves won't address.

It's a joke of a game and yes, I was stung as a day-one buyer as well.

I didn't buy it day one (didn't have a computer that could run it then) but I haven't at all regretted my purchase. I can imagine how I might have if I'd bought it at first, but I haven't found it to be anything other than an immensely deep, ambitious game with occasional frustrations (like how tiny, insignificant states refuse to trade with the dominant power because it might break their trade agreement with Malta). My main frustration now is that the "expansion pack" is centred on what is surely the most boring conflict of the period.

    £10 in ASDA last week.

Bought this on day one, and it still doesn't work...

The game crashes every single time I play it.

No other game has done that for me, it's disgraceful...

Godsake. Every time this game goes on offer i'm skint.

The game works perfectly fine for me, is by far the most polished of the TW series yet, and has constantly been improved since the release. By a distance the game I've spent the most time with this year. Awesome game.
