E3: Jade Raymond exec-producing AC2 News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3
News by Tom Bramwell

4 June, 2009

Ubisoft's Jade Raymond is working on Assassin's Creed 2 as executive producer.

The game's publisher has been quiet about the photogenic producer since Assassin's Creed shipped at the end of 2007, but thanks to a video interview on Ubisoft's E3 website (spotted by vg247), we now know she's involved in the sequel after all.

Creative director Patrick Desilets does most of the talking, explaining the sequel's more varied gameplay, the split between main missions and side quests (about 100 each), while Raymond points out that the upcoming PSP game helps explain the narrative link between Desmond Miles, Altair and Ezio.

Desilets also explains why Ezio has ten fingers and hasn't lost one as Altair did. Apparently it's because Leonardo da Vinci figured out a way to make Ezio a concealed blade without lopping one off. Good work, Leo.

Check out the E3 trailer to learn more. The game's due out on 17th November.

The best thing about Assassin's Creed was Ubi getting butt-hurt over that Jade Raymond BJ comic.

@Omroth : On TV Show #3, at 1:42 the screen shows an artist running "3ds Max 2008 - Unregistered Version", this article is actually a copyright theft expose!

Ha, nice find.
Let's not forget this is the same company who used code from a no-CD crack to patch Rainbow Six Vegas. Piracy is bad!

Wait... she spoiled the first game! The devs spent too much time trying to pull her when they should have been making the game!

My pants were off at the "this movie may contain content inappropriate to children". Sadly they didn't capitalize on it.

Worth watching the video to see the chap getting interviewed taking taking the micky out of disabled people with a bit of a r-tard voice.

She's knocked up.

Or at least she looks it in that video. Sitting like she's on an invisible horse. Baggy maternity fashion top.

Yeah... knocked up, I reckon... that's not going to be too helpful for promoting the game in the months to come.

I hope this is going to be a regular feature where you keep us up to date on what the producer (i.e. the person who manages the schedule/budget) of an average game is doing on the sequel (big surprise, she's now in effect the marketting person)

Whatever next - a full feature following the lives of games industry accountants?

(or let me guess - just the fucking female fucking ones?)

*sigh* "Journalists" in fucking deed

My guess is that Ms. Raymond wanted to keep a lower profile this time round so she didn't get another onslaught of abuse and sexist comments from 'Gamers' and the media.

Ok so their nefarious plan is working. Rather than rememeber that Jade totally screwed up Assasins 1 with those repetitive missions and boring gameplay. Every 14 year old (shouldn't they be llike 15 - 16 now and more intelligent?!?) is still drooling mindlessly over her.

I for one lost a lot of the expectation for Assasins 2 the moment she was associated with the project!

Ahahaha, brilliant. I guess that's why she doesn't show her face as often despite the announcement of AC2.

I'm a fan of Jade, but not her work. AC had a lousy script and average gameplay. They should have left out most of the early lab cutscenes.

"repetitive missions and boring gameplay"

Fingers crossed Ubi will try something different.

Not too confident though, they might just simply slip back into bad habits. Ubi have the opporunity to combine one of the most beautiful game engines I have ever seen in my life to good gameplay to make the best game evah. I wish Ubi would realise this.

See this is my problem..

A Producer is NOT a designer. She was a producer.. that job entails managing budget/schedules - and being the public face of the game.

Executive producer entails just "being the public face of the game"

my point still remains.. AC was a VERY average game...

So why are we hearing about one person who worked on it changing jobs?

Do we hear about developers working on other (equally average) projects changing jobs? No.

No - Just the attractive female ones... which says a lot about the maturity of this industry...
