Disney doing Alice in Wonderland games News

PC DS Wii
News by Ellie Gibson

23 July, 2009

Disney Interactive Studios is developing a batch of games based on Alice in Wonderland.

They'll be inspired by the new Tim Burton film, which is set to hit cinemas on 5th March 2010. It'll star Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp, amazingly enough, along with Crispin Glover, Anne Hathaway and Levi Roots. Maybe not the last one, though the rate he's going no one would be surprised if it's retitled Reggae Reggae Wonderland.

The games are in development for Wii, DS and PC. You'll get to meet the Mad Hatter and the Cheshire Cat as you evade traps and solve puzzles. There's the Red Queen and her Army to face off with, not to mention the Jabberwocky (played by Ben Fogle). The DS version will feature an extra playable character and DSi players will be able to use the system's camera to unlock additional content.

All three titles will go on release alongside the film. Another game where you twist and turn your phone to guide Alice to safety is also in development for iPhone and other mobile platforms.

Jesus, not Bonham Carter and bloody Depp again. I'm actually getting sick of them now.

Another mediocre cash-in then.
The film is shaping up to be typical Burtonesque, ie very dark, twisted and fantastical. With Disney doing the 'games' I very much doubt they will keep to the same style as the film.

Great, another movie tie-in game! I bet this'll be... another movie tie-in 'quality' game!

Cragtek, one's Burton's wife, and the other is guaranteed to bring in box-office numbers... I doubt very much your wish would be granted, unless Burton divorces Helena, and the Johnny falls out of favour with the movie-going public!

Movie tie-in games are the scourge of the industry... but the "people who doesnt know a shit about videogames", AKA casual, just wont listen you if you say "that games is gonna suck", they´ll say "but is Nemo!". The only cool movie tie-in game I ever played is the King Kong one.

Ugh, this film looks so fierce, WHY must disney destroy it with a movie tie-in game! KH is the only decent disney game but you know that Square-Enix took the reigns with that one!!

Bonham Carter and Burton aren't married btw, they're just partners!

So this won't be related to the 'sequel' to American Mcgee's Alice that is supposedly coming out?
