Disgaea DS gets European release date News

Square Enix will be bringing Disgaea DS to Europe in spring 2009.

This squashed down instalment in the strategical role-playing series comes with a fancy Wi-Fi duel mode. There are loads of multiplayer options to tweak in there, plus the option to trade with friends.

Geo Cubes also make an appearance, and can enhance abilities, summon monsters or even attack enemies for that extra layer of tactical depth.

Disgaea DS was released in August over in the US, where critics have awarded decent marks to the game. It also follows on the back of Disgaea PSP, which just happened to be marvellous.

So which one to get if you have a choice, the PSP or the DS version? Ignoring that the PSP version is hard to get hold of these days.

Well I will be importing this week, mainly as the European distribution for games like this is terrible, like maybe 1 copy per store terrible, both GBA Fire Emblems for example, the GBA FFTA etc...

But I would go with the DS version simply as this is the sort of game that takes advantage of the 8-10 hour battery life as its a timesink, that and it has some extras (noting the PSP version is a wee bit more pretty)

It's missing the Japanese soundtrack, I think. Out since August? Thought it only came out last Tuesday in the states...I need to pay more attention ;)

I only discovered Disgaea this year (psp) and it's my game of the year for sure.

@Afray
- I've not played the DS one but the psp is beautiful. All the special attacks etc. look amazing on the wide screen. The sound is great too. Will the DS version have all the speech?

It has speech, it DID only come out in the US the other day and the IGN review spoke voulmes for it (9/10 iirc)
