D3 invites us to be Wii dragons

Flap your "Wiings". Ha.

Ever wanted to be a dragon? Yes I thought so. And so, evidently, did D3Publisher of America, whose new game Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire will allow you to achieve your goal when it comes out exclusively on the Wii in the autumn.

Developed by the agreeably named Land Ho! company, Dragon Blade uses a two-handed Wii control scheme to emulate the dragon's arms, wings, tail, fire "and more". On the screen, it's a third-person hackandslash, but let us refer your waning enthusiasm again to the bit where you get to flap your arms and generally be a dragon.

"Dragon Blade is one the few hackandslash games that will be available on the Wii this fall and the development team, Land Ho, has done a great job to fully utilise the Wii controls so players will experience parallel movement between themselves and the game avatar like never before," said Yoji Takenaka, executive vice president and chief operations officer, D3PA.

"With its arcade style pick-up and play gameplay, we expect Dragon Blade to appeal to gamers of all ages," he added, a bit redundantly. They might enjoy the story, too, which has been penned by Richard A. Knaak, who is best known for the Dragonlance novels, and has also written novels about Diablo and Warcraft for Blizzard.

    Looking at the videos on ign.. it looks very much like Gears of War to me.

    All graphics, little substance.

    Hopefully it'll be better than that steaming turd of a game though.

    Erm, did you just miss that i said this game looked dull.. and *shock* it's on the wii?

    I just used another game to highlight my example of what i think of it.. All style, little substance (like i thought while playing GoW)

    It doesnt matter which platform said game is on surely? Sheesh..

    If i went on a 360 thread and started saying "360 games suxors, the 360 is the worst machine ever, it only gets crap games - just look at GoW that was crap.. in fact this dragon game on the wii looks shit but looks better than anything on the 360" .. then THATS trolling.

    Mentioning a wii/ps2/ps3/360 game looks bad and mentioning another game which had the same problem isnt trolling. Or is it a case of "you cant mention GoW as it makes 360 owners cry?"

    But while you mention it.. yes .. halo 2 was crap (but just to even things out so you dont think that just because i dont like a game i'm somehow saying your machine is crap and it'll make you cry .. - so was metroid prime 2)

    I think you'll find that most people (not fanboys) who've played the game will stand by me in saying that GoW was (when you take away the pretty pixels) not actually very good.. The same in fact goes for oblivion. It's style over substance. The same as this pile of shit looks like it is.

    Im NOT slagging off your poor little machine.. boo fucking hoo.. i'm slagging off a game on your machine. I OWN A 360.. IVE PLAYED THE GAME.. GoW was, is, and always will be a pile of overrated shite with pretty graphics.

    yeah.. It does.. but it just looks like it might be a bit "shallow" .. which was kinda my point until the 360 fangirls started getting upset.

    Mmm I don't actually own a Wii, but I hope it's better than that trailer made it look. Then again I may have been prejudiced by one of the worst voice-overs in the history of the world. Actually, that voice-over makes me wonder if the whole thing's a hoax.

    I wonder if there will ever be a pissing Wii article which doesn't instantly spur a "lol wii is shit play xbox man graphics lol". We should get some sort of bet up on the forums - everyone guesses how many comments until someone saying the wii is a gimmick with shit games turns up.

    Again, I own an xbox and a wii, they are both great, so i'm not trolling!

    My gripe with Wii 3rd party devs is that they announce a game which really seems to suit the Wii well (Mortal Kombat, Harry Potter, Nights 2, Lego Star Wars) and then just forget about the online mode :(

    Oh and the Mii integration as well...
