Crackdown DLC screenshot
New vehicle, new gametype.
Realtime Worlds has been teasing us about Crackdown downloadable content for a couple of months now, but this week community liaison "Agent G" offered us a genuine glimpse of it - courtesy of a screen-capture posted on the official forums.
So that'd be what that is just over there, in case you're wondering.
As you can see, there are four buggies on-screen. Buggies we haven't seen before. And Agent G suggests that this new vehicle will be part of a new gametype, too.
The fact there are four buggies ties in quite neatly with what producer Phil Wilson told you a month ago in our Crackdown community Q&A: "One of the new (and in my humble opinion great fun) downloadable content game modes came from looking at a co-op video posted online, and credit will eventually be given to those folks that had the original idea." Could be, couldn't it?
Crackdown DLC.
The other thing we might be able to expect from downloadable content is more gamerpoints, with 100 still to be accounted for.
Indeed, Microsoft's rules for gamerpoints insist that each boxed game offer 1000 without levying an additional charge, so there's the definite possibility of free content, whether or not this is actually it.
Wilson dropped other hints about downloadable content too, so why not read the full interview while you warm up your Xbox 360 and dust down your Agent?
Oh, and Agent G says we can expect it "soon".
For more on Crackdown, be sure to read our very loving 9/10 Crackdown Xbox 360 review. Skills equals kills, Agent.

Just sounds wrong, you wouldn't say mediums when you meant media would you?
anyway, buggies with big fucking guns on them? yes please. Is this going to be pay for content? how would that work couldn't have some with the buggies joining a game of someone without all they'd see would be an agent flying down the road raining death.

For whatever reason though, there are too many gamers I talk to that haven't played this yet? What were the sales figures like for this game?

Hurry with the DLC as i have not played Crackdown for over a month now since i completed it...!

The game won't let you play with someone who doesn't have the same DLC as you. This has been in place since the new agent skins were available. I tried playing with a friend who hadn't installed them and the lobby wouldn't let us join up.

Yeah as a first party game they can afford to be really indulgent and do whatever the hell they/we want - First Party DLC FTW!
Crackdown is a bit of a sleeper hit. Everyone who plays it seems to love it, though some (such as myself) are a bit disoriented at the start. I think it will become legend throughout the year and it's defo a good idea to keep banging in the DLC as this game could have very long legs ...
I don't know about official sales figures but I would assume it's in 7 figures by now??
Edit: It's done 600K in the USA so you can probably say it's done 1-1.2 million worldwide. That's good but as you suggest, probably not as good as it should have done given how great it is ...

They often do, unfortunately the people that actually make the decisions don't because they spend too long looking at market research and budget spreadsheets.

Exactly my point above re First Party indulgence - they can tell the marketing focus groups etc to take a hike as it's all Bill's money anyhow ....

Apparently the free cars you can download for Gotham 3 come in packs with other cars you have to pay for, so paying for them just downloads you an unlock-key. It works kind of like the XBLA demos, whereby you actually download the whole thing for the demo, and just unlock it if you buy it.

@ t8yman. That's a bloody fantastic idea. Rather than just simple 4-player co-op, we could have 3v1 co-op/counter-coop, or 2v2.
I'm so glad I held on to my copy of crackown.

Considering its cel-shaded graphics and its poor hype, selling platinum (mainly due to the demo availability) is bloody fantastic.
No way would it have platinum on the original xbox.

I'll keep it as long as there is good content on the way!

The disk remains in my 360 and is played virtually every day with ambient crime switched on.
You simply never run out of things to do, game of the year for me. As I've said before, this is the game that reminds you why you love games.
And I've still only scratched the surface of monkeying around on co-op.

I only miss this achievement; the "hidden orbs" and "the stupid rings", however..., there's a way to do the rings rather easy: with a friend, one throw the other inside of a car through them. I could use a hand...
