Capcom's new Bionic Commando

Not the Michelle Ryan thing.

Capcom has revealed that it will be making a new Bionic Commando game for PC, PS3 and 360.

Originally a rather excellent 1987 arcade game (and subsequently ported to practically every 8-bit format going), you play the role of an elite soldier who is part man and part machine, resulting in an extendible grappling arm for swinging around levels as you pump bullets into expendable extras.

The baddies were the invading force of the Nazis all those years ago (although censorship altered them to "Badds" - there's an idea, Rockstar), and the fruits of your platforming efforts lead you to a confrontation with last boss Adolf Hitler.

Swedish outfit GRIN, responsible for PC versions of GRAW (and Ballistics why does nobody remember Ballistics), will be creating the new games, under the watchful eye of some senior Capcom suits in Japan.

We're also told that main character Nathan Spencer will be voiced by Mike Patton, the former lead singer of Faith No More who was the creepy voice of The Darkness earlier this year.

The plot has been upgraded to something a little more 21st Century, too: you get falsely imprisoned and sentenced to death by the government, but on the day of your execution a nuclear bomb lays waste to the city your accusers turn to you as their last option to solve this terrorist attack.

Sounds familiar.
