BlazBlue coming to Europe next year

PAL arrival brings extra goodies.

Newcomer PQube has picked up the European rights to superb PS3 and Xbox 360 fighting game BlazBlue, and plans a launch here during Q1 2010.

Plus, to compensate for the six-month-plus wait, the PAL version will feature additional content. This includes a character strategy guide and soundtrack as well as new characters and moves.

English, German, French, Italian and Spanish languages will be catered for.

BlazBlue, made by Arc Systems, is a new face on the 2D fighting scene. "I can think of only a few instances where a new fighting game has broken onto the genre as such a strong contender," said Eurogamer reviewer Matt Edwards before smacking a 9/10 on the bottom. I'm glad they are going to be bringing it to Europe, but that's a disappointingly long wait, as this game sounds excellent.

    I wonder about the extra characters, though. Blazblue doesn't have that many characters to begin with, but it has obviously taken Arc a fair while to design and balance them all, I hope if one or more new characters are added they aren't just rushed into the game without the same level of care and tuning.

    When I heard this I was very very angry, why the long wait but given that there going to be more content and that does take a while I guess I can understand. No point importing now I guess. Glad I held off

    From what I've heard, this game is far to difficult too be even remotely enjoyable for anyone who doesn't want to commit to hundreds of hours mastering it. I'll pass.

    @CitizenGeek

    All the people on my friends lists that own the game have a 1000/1000 gamerscore on it so i doubdt that its that hard. None of them have a higher score than me in SFIV and MvsC2 so i guess its easier to max out than those.

    "import this my peeps "

    Cant play it on my PAL system so that would be a stupid thing to do actually.

    "ah, so we're not getting screwed after all? nice! "
    And a few articles up on the front page you will see we are returned to our scheduled programme, with a UK-only Xbox360 price increase :)

    I for one am glad that it is getting a Q1 release as I'd hate for it to be swamped by Tekken 6.
  • Mortified_Penguin #15 2 years ago

    This is really good news, and we get extra characters (I'm expecting the extra characters will be DLC in US). Can't wait! Q1 2010 is starting to look better than Q4 2009, which is weird.

    Makes me laugh on all the American forums they're all going mental about this saying how lame it is that we get extra stuff. Pshhh... They really haven't got a clue... We're constantly getting dumped on when it comes to PAL games and they've had this game since June or something anyway. These so called extra goodies will be rubbish. Unless we get a console version of the new Continuuam Shift with Hazama and Tsubaki I don't see how we can get any new characters. It'll probably be something rubbish like EX versions of the some characters. Meh, I imported it anyway. I do so love my region free PS3!
    So yeah, this promise of exclusive features i'm sure will just turn out to be a sham.
