Bethesda doing more Fallout 3 DLC

Supporting PS3, doing retail bundles.

Bethesda has unveiled two more Fallout 3 downloadable add-ons, one called Point Lookout (unsurprisingly) and the other called Mothership Zeta.

The first arrives late June and opens a big swamp to explore, but the latter, oh the latter, has us experience an alien abduction first-hand and discover whether we're tough enough to survive! Mothership Zeta arrives late July, and both are 800 MSP.

Bethesda also plans to offer all DLC on PS3. This will start with Operation: Anchorage in June and be followed by The Pitt and Broken Steel later. They'll be about a month or six-weeks apart - exact dates are TBC.

Finally, Bethesda revealed the not-so-secret DLC retail bundles. The first Fallout 3 add-on pack bundles Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt, and will be available on 12th June. The second pack has Broken Steel and Point Lookout and arrives in August.

There's also a Game of the Year Edition arriving in October for all three formats. This includes the original game plus all five DLC add-ons and costs 40 quid on consoles or 30 quid on PC.

Will we get to hit level 30 after all, then?

5 packs at 800 points each means I could pay £34 for DLC, too expensive!

Broken Steel was worth the money, but I've not bothered with the other 2.

Birthday in October, hello GOTY edition.

Is there a modding community for Fallout 3 of the quality there was for Oblivion? I need to know so i know whether to buy the PC or X360 version.
  • KujiGhost #11 3 years ago

I bought Fallout 3 for £25 when it was first released thank to Blockbuster's special deal. Add the £34 on top of that for the DLC and it isn;t much more than the game of the year edition which is due out later this year.

I really hope they raise the level cap again; 30 is too low for all this DLC!!
  • danathjo #12 3 years ago

As a PS3 owner all I can say is \o/

Might be the first non Nintendo game i'll buy twice, would rather wait for the GOTY edition to save the space (not short on it with a 320 HD but would always take a disc over d/l everytime)
  • Lukree #13 3 years ago

So - the most sensible thing to do right now would be selling the copy of Fallout 3 away now and later buy the whole package with the expansions which I don't dare to buy separately.
  • mikeck #14 3 years ago

Finally, the DLC comes to PS3!!!
  • KujiGhost #15 3 years ago

If it is anything like the Oblivion GOTY edition then it will prompt you to install the extract content from the disk on to your HDD anyway...

Still, good news for PS3 owners indeed. This game should be available to EVERYONE!
  • Linkified #16 3 years ago

Concentrate on Games for Windows and 360, fuck you can't even get those versions right and takes ages to correct god fucking knows when you bring it to the Ps3.

And to top this announcement off with a bang Ps3 sold less copies so? Your wasting your time Bethesda
  • M_of_the_sys #17 3 years ago

Wow. Still haven't finished the original though but I'm glad they're bringing the DLC out on PS3.
  • Achkas #18 3 years ago

Excellent! Glad they came through for us PS3 owners in the end, I was satisfied with Fallout 3 as it was but did envy those who were able to play the DLC. May give the game another play through in a bit.

Now Rockstar, deliver us your GTA content and it'll be one good summer!
  • Eraysor #19 3 years ago

If that last expansion has aliens it it it'll be awesome. I loved finding that crashed ship in the wasteland.

Also, it's nice to see the PS3 owners getting the DLC.
  • kinky_mong #20 3 years ago

"Will we get to hit level 30 after all, then?"

Well by the time I finished Broken Steel and The Pitt I was on Level 28, possibly because I stuck the game on hard when I did the Broken Steel quests. The last two levels didn't take me long to reach either, just go and clean out a few Super Mutant infested areas and give the blood samples to Paladin Tristin.
  • patch #21 3 years ago

Looks like they ironed out all the problems on the test platform, now they're rolling the DLC out proper.

  • Widge #22 3 years ago

I don't know if I have any enthusiasm for Fallout left now, I kind of went through the motions nearer the end of the game... the best part of the game being the aimless roaming of the wasteland on a mission of discovery.

Now if they patched trophes into Oblivion and fixed the vampirism bug, I might go through that again.
  • breedob #23 3 years ago

Can't wait for this! Was considering starting again and playing through as an evil character. Will definitely start it again now!
  • IMadeThis #24 3 years ago

Great news!!! I completed this (PS3 version) at about Level 17 & used one save slot immediately after I entered the last room & got stuck in there! Was considering starting again as an evil character but as it's such a huge game I have since moved onto a number of other games since. Even better, I sold the game & have since (yesterday) received from ShopTo my new Lunchbox Collectors Edition & was considering keeping it sealed as I had no reason to open it. NOW I HAVE, WOOHOO!!!

Was also a little jealous of you 360 owners that got all the DLC & was always hoping this would come to fruition. My favourite game of last year by a mile & one of my all-time favourites too.
  • ronuds #25 3 years ago

"/pokes fanboy nest with a stick and stands back"

Fanboys normally don't care much about material being released months later on another system. Even they've moved on by now. :p
  • Twin_snakes #26 3 years ago

    About fucking time.
  • GamesConnoisseur #27 3 years ago

Pleased for PS3 owners, as Pitts and even more Broken Steel are worth additions, Anchorage is too boring for me and the only neat thing is to see things, designs as THEY were before being NUKED to the teeth.

Intrigued by the new DLC, and hey FIVE serious DLC is a lot more than what was available for Oblivion what with Knights of the Nine and Shivering Island. Still nothing would compares to the freaking sizeable Shivering Island addition and which was responsible for my first and only X360 RROD to date!
  • Twin_snakes #28 3 years ago

    About fucking time.
  • fjharps #29 3 years ago

I'm glad for the PS3 version getting the DLC as I originally had this game for the 360 finished it and gave it to someone as a present. Then trophy patch came out for the PS3 and I was so in love with the Lunch box collector's edition that I bought it again for my PS3 (Couldn't resist temptation). Then i was feeling bad that I had given away the version with the 'exclusive' DLC so I'm really happy now.

and as read above yes bethesda please patch Oblivion with trophies and fix that darn Vampirism glitch.

    Bethesda are gonna be loaded.

Hopefully these will be as good as Broken Steel, which I ain't even finished yet.

And more level cap increase please - and better and more imaginative perks than Broken Steel (Karma re-alignment/all schematic - GTFO!?!).
  • Bulbatron #31 3 years ago

I should be jumping for joy right now, but having gone through pretty much the whole of Fallout 3 with no problems, I am now finding that having downloaded The Pitt and Broken Steel, my game constantly crashes! It was fine after Operation Anchorage, so I don't know what the problem is. The Pitt and Broken Steel are both the newest, bug-free versions. Nevertheless, I've tried re-downloading and clearing my cache, but neither helped. So I'm facing the prospect of having to start a whole noe game.
  • waggy79 #32 3 years ago

Are they? ive got it for ps3 and its really not worth fussing over. Uncharted 2 maybe...
  • Widge #33 3 years ago

I've got the US version so the German fix doesn't work on that (apparently)

    :(
  • Bravestinsane #34 3 years ago

I borrowed it of my friend, so i might hold of on buying any DLC and pick up the game of the year addiction i think its work it good game something i would enjoy replaying i think.
  • makeamazing #35 3 years ago

    Great news, finally... :D

Probably going to wait to the GOTY editon... question is if I should trade in the normal edition now and put it towards another game in the mean time... decisions decisions. :)
  • thesombrerokid #36 3 years ago

why do i feel like i've been fucked here? i payed £20 for fallout and £20 for stingy dlc and now if i pay another £15 i will have payed £55 for the full game, which is extreame considering if i'd held of on the DLC i could've got fallout from day 1 and the GoTY edition for £25 and payed £10 less. this is definiatly the last time i buy DLC.
  • Les #37 3 years ago

Once again an 'exclusive' in the timed sense. Still think that DLC should never be (timed) exclusive as it confuses the non-hardcore which isn't beneficial for gaming as a whole.

/message written on the DSi. Excellent system. :)
  • TheBrow #38 3 years ago

Excellent news! I'm going to have to trade in my original version now as well for the GOTY version I guess.
  • N0vA_NIN #39 3 years ago

This is great news... except for the fact that I deleted my save just a week earlier.
  • Tehren #40 3 years ago

Bought Anchorage on the PC, utterly shite. At least I got to keep the Gauss Rifle, which kind of made it worthwile. Will probably wait for the GOTY version, but confess feeling a little exploited.
  • infoxicated #41 3 years ago

This is great news - I was going to sell my PS3 copy and pick it up on PC later in the year, but I might as well hang onto it now. I think I'll have the enthusiasm to start over when this all comes out. :o)
  • Dave52 #42 3 years ago

So how much did MS stump up for a couple of months exclusivity...?

    Strange...
  • the_jamaster #43 3 years ago

I'm still playing the DLC just now so knowing more is on the way is great. As a 360 owner I also commend Bethesda on releasing DLC on the PS3. I don't like exclusivity agreements and it's not fair that some gamers should miss out on the content because the PS3 is their console of choice.

Looking forward to the new content. Good job Bethesda! Also as others have said increasing the cap even further would be nice.

  • Vistrix #44 3 years ago

Wow. Despite Microsoft making a deal with Bethesda for timed exclusivity?

I guess we'll be seeing GTA DLC soon also....?

Microsoft seem to be in trouble this year. Lets hope that the "magic wand" E3 announcement isnt true.
  • Sunyavadin #45 3 years ago

Oooh, finally we see the aliens ALIVE.
  • Burkey123 #46 3 years ago

I'll be picking up the GOTY edition.
  • Farzlepot #47 3 years ago

    The alien is never alive.
  • sadakos_fury #48 3 years ago

    So, riddle me ree...
What exactly is New Vegas if not DLC?
  • Les #49 3 years ago

What I don't really get is the people applauding Bethesda for releasing the DLC on the PS3 now that their exclusivity deal has run out. They accepted MS's money and are responsible for it being released this late on PS3. It's never been the case that there wouldn't be PS3 DLC we now learn, Bethesda just committed to giving that impression. Basically they lied for money, not really a sign of high moral standards...
  • Dave52 #50 3 years ago

Les: "Basically they lied for money, not really a sign of high moral standards... "

Er... that would be capitalism. I thought it was common knowledge that the DLC was always gonna be released for the PS3 eventually...
  • Les #51 3 years ago

    "Er... that would be capitalism."

    lol.

"I thought it was common knowledge that the DLC was always gonna be released for the PS3 eventually..."

For people that have followed the video game industry for the past couple of years, this shouldn't come as a surprise, true. But if you (or anyone else) had made that statement before this news (as I have in the past) you would be attacked by the MS faithful as a sort of conspiracy theorist.

The problem with unconfirmed ‘public knowledge’ is that it always leads to a yes/no debate and desperate claims for quoting a source. Using common sense isn’t really valued on gaming website debates…

New Vegas is another game completely. Check the wiki
