AVP online MP demo out tomorrow
On PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
SEGA's announced that an Aliens vs. Predator demo will be available tomorrow on PlayStation Network, Steam and Xbox Live Marketplace.
This sampler shows the online multiplayer side of the game and allows all three species - human, alien, predator - to be played, but only on the Refinery map and in Deathmatch mode.
The full game's out on 19th February here in Europe.

This is what will happen. Plus, Predators.

Looking forward to it, but it might have to play second fiddle to BF: BC2 and Heavy Rain demos tomorrow.

There are 3 campaign modes (one for each class: human, Predator and Alien) and 8 multiplayer modes. It's also by the team who made the classic PC game in 2000 (which is still £2.99 on Steam and now has multiplayer). It's got to be good, surely?

Might see what the demo is like, and kill the pre-order if it sucks (hope not, videos so far look ace)

Personally, I think anything over a 5 is well worth a go. Surely if a game is "shit" it would get a 1 or 2. 3 and 4 are poor but you never know in my eyes.
The good thing about this is I only really want to be a marine, so I won't get caught up with all the idiots trying to be the aliens or predator.

Haven't you had enough with the hot marine action with every other action game since Noah stepped out of the ark?

I commend you. You're in denial and the game hasn't even been released yet. That's quite an achievement.

Not that we'll get to find any of that out now, since the demo is just a simple fucking deathmatch map.

When does the review embargo end for this? Please say it's before release day...
Comment below viewing threshold Show
I won't bother with a multi-player demo, I just want to look around without being shot/stabbed/vapourised/mamed all the time.
As with most if its a 7+ plus on the ratings then it will be more than playable, as somebody who nearly wets myself when I hear that signature gun noise followed by and alien scream I am sure I will enjoy this unless its completely broken.
Play best deliver this one time!!
Lets ROCK!!!!

Why is playing an alien or predator for 'idiots', Zoidberg?
Obviously they're for idiots because he doesn't want to play as them.
It's "logic" at it's finest, purest and most spurious: if I do something, then it's cool, if I don't to do it, it's idiotic.
You can replace cool with any positive quality and idiotic with any negative one and the same rule still applies.

Any game that has reviews embargoed until after release day can fuck right off right now.

Sorry I didn't mean everyone who plays them. What I was trying to say is that I think you'll get a lot of people who will squiny and kick off that they can't be the predator (only one at a time i heard). My own fault, I'm not tarring everyone with the same brush!
And at @Golgo, I think playing marines is the best way to get the scope of the game. Aliens is a survival film (and game) and in my opinion, the best way to get the "underdog" and "weakest" is to be the marines.

The words moon and stick spring to mind
This way you get to find out what each species is like to control It's a taster which is what demos are supposed to be.
Personally I'd like a survival mode demo but then there are only two levels for that out of the box I hear.

Please pardon my own narkiness, I prefer playing as marines myself.

In recent memory I can only think of one major release where the review embargo was maintained until release day and that's MW2. Now the anticipation behind that title was enough so that they could get away with it, not sure if I could say the same for AvP. I really want this to be good but unless it gets a glowing review I shall be relying on a family member or close friend to act as a guinea pig and try it for me before I buy it.

Game still looks great, but if its ugly it can spoil the atmosphere a bit. Alien, Aliens and predator are 3 of my favourite movies so I'm praying to god that this is gonna be good. Even though he doesn't exist.

Admittedly, it's only the marine gameplay, but I thought it looked really good and really atmospheric.

But no, Rebellion have, to all intents and purposes, given the PS3 crowd a menu for mutliplayer matchmaking...sans the matches. And it's 1gb in size :0)
Hope the final game is better thought out than this lame system, as going back many years ago PC fps games have allowed you to host a game and wait for player in the map...or am I missing something?

edit: did get in eventually. Didn't impress that much, everyone was using the quick-time-event kills and you would literally get queues forming - the predator doesn't start with a ranged weapon so there's a lot more melee than a DM game is really suited for IMO. The alien movement wasn't as fluid and fun as AvP2. Laggy too.
On the plus side the basics are covered - the marine motion detector still makes everything really atmospheric, the sounds are right and the alien can still wall-walk. The predator cloak and vision modes were totally useless but I don't think that's a bad thing for deathmatch.

We've identified an issue with the matchmaking system that is causing the very long wait times to get into a PC game, and hope to release an update shortly which addresses this.
In the meantime players can ease connection issues by getting together with a group of players before entering matchmaking. Inviting friends or joining players via the Steam overlay will help work around the issue. If you need help finding players you can join one of the community groups, e.g. [link url=http://steamco mmunity.com/groups/AVPI.

In addition to the matchmaking functionality the full game features dedicated servers, server browsers, and the ability to host games directly.

Don'y flatter yourselves Rebellion, who's going to be arsed to do that for a fecking demo?
Comment below viewing threshold Show
and then i left because it was total shit.

But, as I said, the feeling was there. "Radar goes beep-beep-beeeeep"
Comment below viewing threshold Show
And Rebellion are looking into the connection issues. Pretty much every MP game has teething problems, hang in there!

Bodes well for the SP campaign too, as it's fluid & controls well.
