Zooming down the runway next month.

SEGA's announced that After Burner Climax will be available on Xbox Live Arcade on 21st April and on PlayStation Network a day later on 22nd April.

You'll pay 800 Microsoft Points (Ł6.80/€9.60) on Xbox Live or $9.99 on PSN, Kotaku reports.

There'll be three planes on offer, 20 missions and time-slow capabilities. Head over to YouTube for an irresistible eight-minute stretch of game action.

Awesome! Really can't wait for this, it will go alongside Outrun 2 Online perfectly in the XMB

I hope this is a faithful 60fps port of the arcade game. I assume its AM2 porting this?

Any chance Eurogamer could, when grabbing these from Kotaku, try to contact the publishers about Euro and UK pricing on the PSN before posting them up?

10 USD could mean Ł5.49 (when the UK is given a break like with General Knox), Ł6.29 (the standard for publishers who observe the exchange rate) or Ł7.99 (when publishers couldn't give a flying fuck about Europe/UK and gouge us at a 30% premium for the same content)

Not really. They added some sort of combo meter that fills when doing combos (shooting enemies without getting hit) when filled up you can do a superattack of some sort. Looks good and you get an achievement for doing it too.

Activated Climax Mode in Arcade mode 15G.

Looks pretty nice and colorful but the gameplay seems very dated.

Give us a updated Space Harrier instead

Why not get your hopes up? It's a port of the stunning arcade game. The only way they could cock it up is if the framerate is dodgy which is unlikely as all gameplay videos so far appear to be running in 60fps. It's a definate purchase from me!

Had a quick look at this awhile back, and was totally unimpressed. Its so fast you barely have a second to register the targets before they're gone and as each section lasts maybe 30-40seconds there's not a lot of it either.

For the record, I didn't give it much of a go, and the other people I was checking it out with really liked it, but I'd strongly recommend trying before you buy. I honestly expected to love it, but my initial reaction was quite the reverse.
