Activision quiet on GUN 2
Tony Hawk's demo to blame.
Activision has stayed tight-lipped over rumours that a GUN sequel is in development - it pretty much just sat there blowing cigar smoke at us in the dingy poker-purposed back room in the saloon.
A rumour-filled bar brawl erupted after posters for a game called "GUN - Magruder's Ghost" appeared in the Tony Hawk's Proving Ground demo, carrying the strap line, "Sometimes a man will shoot back - even from beyond the grave".
Both games are developed by Neversoft, and you may remember that Magruder's survival was in doubt (wouldn't want to give the story away) in the first game.
GUN was an entertaining Wild West shooter that probably fell more kindly into the rental recommendation than full-priced sale. You filled the spurred-boots of Colton White and embarked on a linear tale of revenge, and were likely to quash your thirst for vengeance all too quickly - thanks to rather over-easy gunfights and liberal health refills (whisky bottles).
Still, you could put it down to being the first venture for Neversoft, who is currently enjoying large pats on the back for its reinvention of the Tony Hawk's series.
We'll sleep with our eyes open for more information. Meanwhile you should high-tail it over to our GUN review to find out a little more.

What? by making the latest version of the game 10x shitter than project 8 was? No crouch animation when popping an ollie is my personal fave 'improvement'...skate actually deserves to bury it for good, which is not something i thought i'd be saying when an EA skateboarding title was announced..

I think you get the point.
In the end I beat him by running round a rock in the centre of the map with him chasing me Benny Hill Style so he couldn't get a clear shot at me and chipped away at his health with the shotgun. But it was very nearly the first game I threw in the bin from sheer frustration.

I'd like to see a sequel; they need to make the towns larger, introduce melee fist fights and get rid of that stupid bullet time mode.
Colour me interested.
EDIT - I'm also one of the few (probably) who thought Red Dead Revolver was fairly poor. I liked Gun better.

Yes, I'm pretty sure Gun sold like crap, too (certainly over here in Blighty).
Also, that cavalry boss (voiced by Ron Perlman, if I'm not mistaken) wasn't the last boss - there was a little bit after him, maybe another couple of hours' worth. The last boss was also an unfairly difficult bastard - I gave up on him.

Yep you are quite correct - he was annoyingly cheap too. I did finally put him down but I had less trouble with him than the calvary guy.
Its a shame because for the most part it was a really fun game and Lord knows there aren't that many games these days that are purely fun.
