Portal writer Erik Wolpaw has left Valve
"You want your freedom? Take it."
Valve writer Erik Wolpaw has left the famous Bellevue, Washington studio as of today.
"Last day at Valve!" Wolpaw said on Facebook (via Valve News Network). "People marching their crap out of the office in a box is the central theme of 90 per cent of what Pinkerton and I write, and now I'm finally doing it for real."
Wolpaw is known for his work on such Valve games as Portal, Portal 2, Left 4 Dead, and Half-Life 2: Episodes 1 & 2. Prior to his time at Valve, Wolpaw worked on Psychonauts at Double Fine, and he's collaborating with that studio again on Psychonauts 2.
While the Valve News Network tweet indicated that fellow Portal 2 scribe Jay Pinkerton had left as well, Pinkerton clarified on Twitter that he still works at Valve.
I guess this means Wolpaw won't be working on Valve's three mysterious VR games - unless he already penned the scripts.
