JJ Abrams and Infinity Blade developer team up for espionage strategy Spyjinx

Mission impossible?

Star Wars, Star Trek and Lost director JJ Abrams is working on a mysterious action strategy game named Spyjinx with Infinity Blade and Shadow Complex developer Chair.

Spyjinx will launch for PC, tablets, smartphones and "eventually, hopefully everywhere that you play games", Chair has said.

The game's official blurb states that it will mix strategy with RPG-style character building in a world centred on espionage.

You'll be able to play Spyjinx in beta form at some point in 2016.

Abrams' actual involvement isn't really clear, although his production company Bad Robot has apparently wanted to move into games for a while.

Speaking in a reveal interview hosted by gaming presenter Geoff Keighley, Abrams explained that he was attracted to Chair after he and his kids played Infinity Blade.

Apart from that, information on Spyjinx is extremely thin on the ground. Epic Games appears to be involved to some degree as well, as Spyjinx is being made in Unreal Engine.

Beta sign-ups are now live over at epicgames.com/spyjinx.
