Stephen Colbert promotes new show with a text adventure

Escape From The Man-Sized Cabinet.

Political satirist Stephen Colbert stars in a new browser-based text-adventure to promote his upcoming program where he will replace David Letterman as host of The Late Show.

Entitled Escape From The Man-Sized Cabinet, the promotional offering put you in the deceptively cunning shoes of Colbert as explores his office while waiting for his new show to kick off on 8th September on CBS.

Initially you can explore his office and check out his To-Do list, which is full of wry chores like "continue sustaining illusion of crop circles", "save cheerleader, world", "steal Christmas" and "learn to use To-Do list".

From here players must decide if they should attempt to emerge from the cabinet or live out their days reenacting the climax of The Cask of Amontillado.

Without giving too much away, it's not long before the cabinet takes Colbert to a magical fantasy realm that is totally not Narnia for copyright reasons. This is probably for the better, seeing as how he can immediately engage in some pretty suggestive scenarios with its fawn-like folk.

As one would expect from Colbert and his marketing team, there's a lot of humour ranging from the scatological to the satirical. There's even some nice beats echoing fan concerns about how he'll operate as a host without using sporting his mock ultra-conservative persona that he wielded so well for nine years on The Colbert Report.

So what are you waiting for? Go on and experience the exciting life of legendary adventurer Stephen Colbert!
