GAME names former Gamestation MD Martyn Gibbs as new CEO

Will Baker bring back Fat Chris?

GAME Group's new owner Baker Acquisitions has hired some familiar old faces to drag the video game shop-chain out of the mud.

Martyn Gibbs, former managing director of Gamestation and subsequent bigwig at GAME until mid-2011, has been crowned CEO. Gibbs also worked for HMV, WHSmith and Blockbuster.

David Hamid, former Dixons and Halfords big-shot, will be chairman.

Commented Gibbs: "I am delighted to be leading GAME back to success. Our immediate priority is to help the GAME and Gamestation teams, so they can give our customers a great Easter in our stores and websites."

You could say he's got a chocolate to do. Could say.

Baker Acquisitions snapped up the UK GAME business, comprising 333 shops, at the weekend. Baker Acquisitions had been advised by investment company OpCapita.

That's Baker Acquisitions, then - a company with plenty of bread.

Dough!
