Alan Wake PC confirmed
Out early next year. Screenshot released.
Alan Wake launches on PC during the first quarter of 2012, Remedy has announced.
The Finnish developer said during a press conference in London this afternoon that the game will launch on Steam.
A single screenshot, below, has been released.
The announcement was made at London's Nokia House, as Remedy VP Aki Järvilehto spoke about the company's adoption of digital distribution.
The PC version of Alan Wake will come packaged with The Signal and The Writer, the two well-received DLC add-ons for the game.

Though far from perfect, AW is a solid title and well worth a play-through or two. Enjoy my PC brethen. Looking forward to American Nightmare and, hopefully, a full-blown sequel further down the line....

To be honest I hope there are no hitches this time. I thought Alan Wake was decent enough on the Xbox, but would've gone down much better if it wasn't for all the delays and it launched with the 360.

Exactly and now they will say some nonsense like it doesn't sell because of piracy.
I still believe to this day that it would have been better recieved.
Maybe even GOTY if M$ wouldn't have been such dicks and decide to pull the plug because they needed a quick exclusive for their Xbox.
The game was basically hyped for the PC and many PC fans were looking really forward to it.
Remedy can thank M$ for ruining their franchise before even it began.
I'll buy it if it comes out and there won't be any other games around that I'm interested in.

Still, I agree with previous comments that it does feel like they kind of shot themselves in the foot as to their PC audience.

You 'suspect' that it's contracted to remain a console exclusive for the 360?
I'd more than suspect that, given Microsoft published it.

EDIT: Let's not get too excited though, we've still yet to hear some news about the DRM bullshit they'll probably use to screw you guys over.

Yes they did, but they *only* published it; the IP belongs to Remedy. Perhaps there was only a 24 month console exclusivity period, or maybe it's indefinite - who knows. Being a PS3 gamer I still hope it makes the jump at some point.

Note to Rock Star: RDR now please

Rockstar are another company known for lying to PC consumers about their games like Remedy have with AW but RDR is truly looking like it will never happen.
There were rumours about PC getting the GOTY version (which is still possible I guess) but whispers say the code was in such a mess it's lucky the consoles got it so it would be too big a job to get it working on PC.

Also, these days it does seem to take a second game to make a series come good. No doubt a sequel would put right the many wrongs... that is, if we can get it before 2020.

Wasn't there an expandalone download-only announcement just a few days ago? Might come bundled with the PC version and the whole package sold at full price, I imagine.
edit:
Just spotted the RPS interview. "American Nightmare" only announced for xbla. Same bullshit again.

Just to add some balance to your PS3 fanboy slanted opinion, according to DF very own tech analysis, the frame rate is mostly very smooth, the screen tear is really only noticeable during the daytime as the night scenes in which the majority of the game is set masks it fairly well for the most part and the low resolution is well masked by the 4xMSAA and decent upscaling. However let's say this game was released on your beloved PS3, would it have been any better technically? I doubt it. For one this game was a heavy drain on the 360 GPU and the PS3 has an inferior GPU. The game uses a ton of alpha which really stressed the 360. As we know the PS3 has far less bandwidth than the 360 so that part couldn't be improved upon. Oh and the foliage. It's pretty well known that again due to bandwidth limitations the PS3 can render less foliage than it's 360 counterpart. So a game with lots of alpha and foliage would unlikely perform and look any better on Sony's machine. In fact I can't think of any PS3 game that needs to render all the things AW does. Perhaps you can enlighten me.

There is a reason nothing on Xbox touches Uncharted, God of War killzone (Digital foundry shows this). The PS3 CELL can Augment the GPU taking a huge load off the gpu (MLAA is one such technique). This negates any slight advantage the 360 GPU has. When all SPU's of cell are used the 360 cannot hold up to the PS3. The only issue is not all devs use cell much at all.
Your foliage comment is particularily ignorant., Have you played uncharted and its lush foliage, detailed textures, huge draw distance, and amazing fire, smoke effects and animations? Xbox tries to run Uncharted FPS would be in single digits. The foliage in Uncharted 2 is a lot more thick and frequent then Alan wake, and textures and lighting way more detailed.

Alan Wake impressed me on a level none of the uncharted games did though, it's also way more atmospheric but this is just my opinion and the art design between the two games is very different so it's difficult to compare in some respects.

I don't play specs, I play games. And while graphics are important to some extent, how the game plays is far more important in the big scheme of things. All this talk of the 360 couldn't handle this or that is just that...talk. Uncharted was programmed with the PS3's abilities in mind, porting it to the 360 would be extremely hard, but I'm sure with enough time and money (and enough discs) it'd be doable. Would it look as good? Who's to say, it's not been done, and the only ones who would know would be the developers after they adjusted to the 360 hardware.
On point, Alan Wake was a really good game with great atmosphere and art design - which means far more than graphical horsepower, look at Okami, Mario Galaxy and the latest Rayman title...all gorgeous - and I'd be excited to see it on the PC in full on HD glory.

You haven't made any relevant points apart the part about foliage. Alan Wake is set in a forest so I don't see how Uncharted could have more dense alpha heavy foliage because it simply doesn't. The alpha comment still stands.
Talking about graphics though yeah I know the very few top tier PS3 exclusives look the best but not by much.

I sometimes struggle to work out why it was an 7-8 in my opinion as opposed to a 9-10 and I can only think that it was mostly due to the lack of compulsion to get through a level. It was far from bad, but it sometimes felt like a bit of a slog to get to the next cutscene. Perhaps slightly better level design, pacing and variety in enemies would have helped which is why a lot of people think an AW2 could be a top game.
